Exodus 2:23-25

When God's people are crushed, He is not absent, unaware, or late — God hears, remembers, sees, and moves to save through Jesus.

I. God Hears the Groaning (vv. 23–24a)

"After a long time, the king of Egypt died" — a new pharaoh didn't end the pain. Deliverance never comes from a new earthly king; it comes from God.

"The Israelites groaned… they cried out… their cry ascended to God." Years of silence didn't mean heaven was absent — your groan is the sound of faith under pressure, not failure.

"God heard their groaning." The first word of divine action in this chapter is heard — God's rescue begins by listening to honest, unpolished cries.

Some of you have waited "a long time." Like a mother who knows her child's cry in a dark room, God knows yours — and He hears.

Bridge: Because God hears, your honest cry is never wasted.

II. God Honors His Covenant (v. 24b)

"God remembered his covenant" — remembered doesn't mean He forgot; it's covenant language: He's about to act on a promise.

"With Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob" — one binding promise spanning generations. He keeps it when we have nothing to keep.

He doesn't rescue because Israel earned it — they're slaves with nothing to offer. Grace means God helps people who can't help themselves.

That covenant was always moving toward Christ. God's rescue isn't just from Pharaoh but from sin and death — finished at the cross.

Bridge: You can trust God today because He has never broken one promise — and He never will.

III. God Sees the Suffering (v. 25)

"God saw the Israelites" — He wasn't looking away. Saw means He took notice with intent to act.

"And God knew" — not mere awareness, but intimate, covenant knowledge. He knew their pain, their names, every brick laid.

Heard, remembered, saw, knew — four verbs, one direction: God moving toward His people. Don't quit before chapter 3.

At the cross God didn't just observe our suffering — He entered it. Jesus groaned under our sin so we'd never groan alone.

Bridge: The God who moved toward Israel moves toward broken people now — and He has moved toward you in Jesus.

God heard, remembered, saw, and knew — and at the cross He acted. Jesus groaned under the weight of our sin so we'd never groan alone. The rescue that began in Egypt is finished in Christ. Bring Him your groaning today.
