Sometimes we need to sit still and stop our activity that God might prepare us for a future work!

To Help With Understanding The Scriptures

1 Samuel 9:27,

Requires Isolation (bid the servant pass on before us)

Get alone with God, turn off all the noise and distractions, pray, ask God to help you understand the Scriptures.

Requires Being Intentional (stand)

You’ll never get in God’s word when you’re in a rush. If you don’t make time for study, you won’t study.

The Bible talks about meditating on the word of God.

Joshua 1:8 “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.”

Psalm 1:1–2 “Blessed is the man That walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor standeth in the way of sinners, Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; And in his law doth he meditate day and night.”

Biblical meditation is the deliberate, prayerful practice of filling your mind with God's Word, thinking deeply about it, and seeking to understand, believe, and obey it. Unlike some modern ideas of meditation that emphasize emptying the mind, biblical meditation emphasizes filling the mind with God's truth.

Luke 10:39 “And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.” When you’re amazed by Christ, you’ll pay attention to Christ!

Requires Being Immobile (stand thou still)

Being still precedes any illumination to God’s word.

Requires Being Invested (a while)

Paul knew the Scriptures, but took three years to be taught of Jesus Christ to understand the gospel!

God's Word has not become less powerful, but our lives have become less prepared.
