Last days wk 2
1 Cor.2:10-13(nasb) 10 For to us God revealed them through the Spirit; for the Spirit searches all things, even the depths of God.
1) What I want you to see here is how an action was done- Revealed - defined as unvailing-
2) How was it done-by the Spirit, the Holy Spirit
3) Read end of verse...
11For who among men knows the thoughts of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so the thoughts of God no one knows except the Spirit of God.
1) 1st part of verse - Spirit of man- last half there is God's Spirit-
2) Spirit of man is from the world- worldly point of view-
12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God
1) Paul is telling them what we are saying to you is not from the spirit of the world-
2) Last half the verse- Spirit reveals those things to us--
13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words. 14But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised. 15But he who is spiritual appraises all things, yet he himself is appraised by no one.
Appraised- examined as in forensic science--
1 cor. 3:1-3And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual men, but as to men of flesh, as to infants in Christ. 2I gave you milk to drink, not solid food; for you were not yet able to receive it. Indeed, even now you are not yet able, 3for you are still fleshly. For since there is jealousy and strife among you, are you not fleshly, and are you not walking like mere men?
1) Now I am not saying this is going on in Crossing at all
2) What I want us to see is Paul is saying you are still fleshy- still in the world- in other words you have not let the Holy Spirit evict you world spirit all the way-
3) I am still having to treat you like a child-- basically you should have already grown up some-
Romans 7:4-5 Therefore, my brethren, you also were made to die to the Law through the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5For while we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were aroused by the Law, were at work in the members of our body to bear fruit for death.
* Now I have laid this foundation- the two Spirits Holy and Worldly
* I want to share with you the main part of what I want us to truly see
* I had this thought about something- One day I will and you will stand before God and He will ask, Corey, what did you do with my church----- so I began to come up with stuff that I might say
* Well Lord I MADE SURE I HAD SOME GOOD PROGRAMS IN PLACE- we built a new building-
* I counseled people- I had coffee and donuts on Sunday's - I made sure we were helping the needy etc...
* But still something did not seem to take away the feeling I had--- So I began digging--
John 15:1-6(nasb) 1"I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser.
1) God is the fruit maker
2) Jesus is where the fruit is made
3) We receive from Christ through the Holy Spirit what fruit to bear
4) We do not decide what fruit to bear- we are just a branch
5) I believe we get to wrapped up into deciding what fruit to grow- we forget about the God Fruit that has already been put into place---
2Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.
4Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. 5I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. 6If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned
* SO we have good fruit and bad fruit- Holy Spirt- man spirit(worldly)
* So can I say I can stand before God and tell Him I produced God Fruit to grow your kingdom-
* Gal. 5- 9 fruits of the Spirit - Love joy peace patience kindness gentleness faithfulness goodness self control-
* Did I love with a Godly love empowered by the Holy Spirit or did I love with a worldly love which only goes so far-------
* Did I have Godly patience-
* Or will we say we tried to grow my own fruits -
* What you produce in your life will either MATURE YOU or KEEP YOU ON THE BOTTLE
Phil 1:9-11(nasb) so that you may approve the things that are excellent, in order to be sincere and blameless until the day of Christ; 11having been filled with the fruit of righteousness which comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
Titus 3:14 (nasb) Our people must also learn to engage in good deeds to meet pressing needs, so that they will not be unfruitful. (col.1:10)
John 12:24- Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.
Matt. 3:8(nasb) Therefore bear fruit in keeping with repentance;-(repentance- to change one's mind- sorrowful)
Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (SHARING CHRIST)
Hebrews 13;15-16(NASB) 15Through Him then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. 16And do not neglect doing good and sharing, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Sacrifice defined- it means just that
1) put aside self no matter what and worship Him-- worship is a lot of things -
2) 1) through singing- actions in public- in our giving to support Crossing-
3) End of verse read and high lite--
So we either produce God Fruit- which shows our Spiritual Maturity and pleases God or we produce man/women fruit . which leads to death- John says we dry and are thrown away
What do you want to say when you stand before God------
