THE BIBLE DESCRIBES 2 KINDS OF PEOPLE IN IT
THE FOOLISH OR THE WISE
THE FOOLISH WILL CONTINUE TO SUBJUGATE YOU WITH THEIR FOOLISH THOUGHTS AND ACTIONS
WHILE THE WISE WILL LISTEN AND LEARN FROM OTHERS (HOPEFULLY) OLDER PEOPLE WHO HAS GONE THROUGH SUCH FOOLISHNESS AND LEARNED HOW TO DEAL WITH IGNORANCE
Recovery isn't just learning to stop destructive behaviors.
Recovery is learning healthy behaviors you've never been taught."(2X)
YOU WILL BE GIVEN Ready-to-use words for the conversations that leave you speechless,
with emotional preparation and what to expect after.
If saying no makes you feel guilty, this TEACHING was made for you.
YOU CAN SAY 'I'm Finally Setting Boundaries'
You ARE HERE because some part of you is ready.
You are not a difficult person.
You are not bad at relationships.
You are a PERSON who was never taught that you were allowed to say no — and that silence has cost you more than you realize.
This teaching exists because the hardest part of setting a boundary is not always knowing you have the right to hold one.
It is knowing what to say in the moment when your heart is racing and the other person is standing right in front of you, waiting. You go blank.
You apologize. You over-explain. You give in.
And afterward you feel the familiar weight of having abandoned yourself again.
These seven scripts will give your mouth something to say while the rest of you is still catching up.
THESE WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU ONE AT A TIME.
OBVIOUSLY ONE PER TEACHING TO GIVE YOU TIME TO PUT THEM INTO PRACTICE
How to use this teaching: Read and reread through all seven scripts once without judgment.
Then return to the ones that match your real situation.
Each script now includes a preparation note and a 'what to expect' section so you go in ready, not just scripted.
Read your chosen scripts out loud — even alone in a room.
Your body needs to hear your own voice say these words before it will believe you can.
Examples: OF HOW JESUS MODELED WISDOM
Jesus often withdrew to pray.
Jesus didn't heal every person in Israel.
Jesus sometimes told people "No."
Jesus walked away from hostile crowds.
Jesus never allowed guilt to control His mission.
THIS immediately makes boundaries biblical instead of psychological.
DID YOU GET THAT?
Recovery isn't just learning to stop destructive behaviors.
Recovery is learning healthy behaviors you've never been taught."(2X)
1). When My Mother/FATHER/SPOUSE/CHILDREN Guilt-Trips Me
BEFORE YOU SAY THIS
Prepare your heart and mind
Take three slow breaths before this conversation.
Your chest may tighten when THEY respond — that is normal.
You are not required to react in the moment.
RESPOND & NOT REACT!!
You are allowed to say 'I need a few minutes' and step away.
Your nervous system needs time to stay regulated.
THE SITUATION
What is actually happening here You have said no, made a decision for yourself or set a limit — and your mother OR WHOEVER has responded with something designed to make you feel like a bad PERSON.
(humor)
Talking about guilt… Some people can lay a guilt trip on you so thick they ought to work for a travel agency." (SMILE)
Comments like "after everything I've done for you" or "I guess I don't matter anymore" are not only expressions of pain — they are tools of control, even when THEY do not know that is what THEY ARE using.
WHAT TO SAY
Your exact words "Mom OR WHOMEVER, I hear that you're disappointed and I understand this is hard.
I love you and I also need to make this decision for myself.
I'm not pulling away from you.
I'm learning to take care of me too."
WHY THIS WORKS
This script names her emotion, reaffirms love and holds the boundary without apologizing for it.
Guilt-tripping loses power when you refuse to accept the guilt being offered.
You do not have to argue with what she is feeling.
You just do not have to let it move you.
WHAT TO EXPECT
After the conversation THEY may go quiet, become more upset or escalate.
THEY may try guilt again from a different angle.
This is not evidence that you did something wrong — it is the pattern being tested.
Stay calm and stay consistent.
The goal is not to win an argument.
The goal is to hold your position with warmth.
THE MOMENT EVERYTHING CAN CHANGE FOR YOU
There was a season in my life where I kept saying yes while internally falling apart.
I thought keeping the peace meant staying silent.
I thought love meant tolerating things that were slowly destroying me emotionally.
And I kept waiting for people to magically understand my pain without me ever clearly communicating my limits.
But healing began when I realized this:
Boundaries are not punishment.
They are protection.
That shift changed the way I viewed relationships, communication, and even my relationship with myself.
This TEACHING IS BUILT FOR YOU AND TO EMPOWER YOU
Not as theory.
Not as motivational quotes.
But as practical healing work for PEOPLE who are exhausted from carrying everyone else emotionally.
If that sounds like you, THIS IS truly made this with you in mind.
HUMOROUS:
Talking about boundaries...
"Some people treat boundaries like they're electric fences. They walk up, touch them anyway, get shocked, and then blame you for installing the fence."
PERSERVERANCE
PREVIOUSLY we HAVE talked about perseverance and the importance of not giving up when the answer takes longer than expected.
Perseverance is essential, but there is something else that is equally important.
Training!
Think about an athlete preparing for a competition.
Determination alone is not enough.
The athlete must also develop strength, discipline, endurance, and skill.
The same principle applies to our spiritual lives.
Many believers genuinely love God and desire to grow, but they have never been taught how to develop spiritual discipline,
strengthen their prayer life, or effectively use the weapons God has given them.
As a result, they often find themselves exhausted, discouraged, and overwhelmed when challenges arise.
Ephesians 6:11 says:
“Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.”
Notice that Paul assumes believers will know how to put on the armor and use it.
Spiritual growth does not happen accidentally.
It requires intentionality.
We grow when we spend time in God’s Word.
We grow when we develop a consistent prayer life.
We grow when we learn how to stand on God’s promises during difficult seasons.
We grow when we allow the Holy Spirit to teach and strengthen us.
Key Points:
Key Points:
1. Boundaries Are Biblical and Healthy
1. Boundaries Are Biblical and Healthy
Setting boundaries is not selfish.
Healthy boundaries protect emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being while preserving relationships.
2. Guilt Is Often Used as a Control Mechanism
2. Guilt Is Often Used as a Control Mechanism
Statements like "After everything I've done for you" can create guilt that pressures people into abandoning their own needs.
3. You Can Acknowledge Feelings Without Surrendering Your Boundary
3. You Can Acknowledge Feelings Without Surrendering Your Boundary
You can validate someone's emotions while still standing firm in your decision.
4. Respond Rather Than React
4. Respond Rather Than React
Emotional regulation is essential.
Taking time before responding helps prevent decisions driven by fear, guilt, or pressure.
5. Consistency Matters
5. Consistency Matters
When boundaries are new, people may test them.
Remaining calm and consistent is often more effective than arguing.
6. Healing Requires Communication
6. Healing Requires Communication
Many people expect others to understand their pain without clearly expressing their limits.
Healthy communication is a crucial part of healing.
7. Boundaries Protect Relationships
7. Boundaries Protect Relationships
Boundaries are not designed to punish others; they create healthier and more sustainable relationships.
8. Perseverance Alone Is Not Enough
8. Perseverance Alone Is Not Enough
Just as athletes train physically, believers must train spiritually through prayer, Scripture, discipline, and dependence on God.
9. Spiritual Growth Requires Intentionality
9. Spiritual Growth Requires Intentionality
Growth does not happen automatically.
It develops through consistent practice and spiritual maturity.
10. God Provides Strength for Life's Challenges
10. God Provides Strength for Life's Challenges
The message of Ephesians 6 emphasizes preparation, spiritual readiness, and reliance on God's armor when facing difficulties.
Learning to set boundaries is one part of recovery.
But knowing how to live after you set those boundaries—that requires training.
God never intended His children to simply survive temptation.
He intended us to become spiritually strong."
Talking about recovery...(HUMOROUS)
Some of us spent years saying yes to everybody else and no to ourselves. Then we wondered why we were exhausted ?
GRACE IS REWRITING YOUR TIMELINE
Next week we're going to discover how God's grace doesn't just forgive your past...
It redeems your future.
Some of you think you've wasted years.
Next week we're going to see that God is the only One who can restore years.
He doesn't just redeem people...
He redeems time."
I hear the Spirit of God declaring that grace is rewriting your timeline and what has felt delayed, disordered and out of place is being realigned by the hand of God as divine grace steps into your story and begins to reorder events, restore lost time and position you accurately within His purpose.
Your timeline is aligning with purpose and the things that seemed out of sequence are now falling into place with precision as heaven brings divine alignment to your life.
Events are arranging correctly, and what once felt scattered, inconsistent, or uncertain is being structured by God’s wisdom and intentionality.
The Lord is establishing your steps, for the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord and He delights in his way (Psalm 37:23)
And every step you take now is being directed, aligned, and positioned according to divine order. What looked like confusion is turning into clarity, and what felt like misalignment is being corrected by grace.
The Lord is declaring that your progress is moving forward steadily and you are no longer stuck, stagnant, or circling the same place.
There is movement, there is advancement, and there is acceleration that is steady, sure and sustained.
Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:6)
And the work of God in your life is progressing without interruption as grace carries you forward into fulfillment.
Timing is working in your favor and what once felt too late, too early or completely missed is being redeemed by the power of God.
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28)
And God is causing every moment, every season and every experience to cooperate with His plan for your life.
There is no wasted time in God, only redeemed time.
The Lord is saying that restoration is taking place and the years that felt lost, delayed, or unproductive are being restored with increase, fruitfulness and divine compensation.
So I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten (Joel 2:25)
And what you thought was lost time is becoming multiplied time as grace restores, accelerates and redeems your journey.
God is aligning you with purpose, and your life is coming into agreement with His divine plan.
Many are the plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless the Lord’s counsel… that will stand (Proverbs 19:21)
And the counsel of God over your life is prevailing over every delay, every detour and every disruption.
You are stepping into alignment with what was written concerning you.
The Lord is declaring that divine synchronization is taking place, and connections, opportunities and moments are coming together at the right time, in the right way, and for the right purpose.
To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
And you are entering into the timing of God where things happen as they should, when they should.
This is your season where grace is rewriting your timeline.
Your timeline is aligning with purpose, events are arranging correctly, and your progress is moving forward steadily.
Timing is working in your favor and every delay is being redeemed, every misalignment is being corrected and every step is being ordered by the Lord.
Grace is rewriting your timeline.
Your life is coming into divine alignment, your steps are being ordered and your progress is advancing with purpose.
Timing is working in your favor and God is bringing everything together according to His perfect will.
