I am Terry Sanders the Youth Pastor here at First Baptist Church. Our Church wants you to know you are in our Prayers .

Lydia Medina, 72, of Littlefield, Texas entered eternal life on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, surrounded by her family in Denison, Texas. She was born on August 08, 1953, to Andres and Theodora Medina in Corpus Christi, Texas.

     Although Lydia had a smaller intermediate family, their love for one another was grand. She had a son that she devoted her life to. She provided for her family while working for American Cotton Growers for many years in Littlefield. Her life’s mission was to make sure her son knew how special he was to her and to be a providing man that loved his family. Her motherly love also poured into her grandchildren as well. Being a ‘Grandma’ to them was another joy in her life. In her down time, Lydia could be found with her focus glued to a crossword puzzle. During her time of relaxation, Lydia would watch Hallmark or Lifetime movies.

     Lydia had a big, courageous heart and fought cancer, heart failure, and cirrhosis until the end. Her love for her family never diminished and she kept her funny sense of humor until her journey here on earth was fulfilled. Lydia had a trait about her that made other people feel welcome around her. Despite her hard comings in life, Lydia kept her life rooted in faith and would turn on Christian music and worship to remind herself that through it all, her Lord was near. Her life story will forever be memorable for her family and friends. She leaves behind conversations that were full of humor, wisdom, and guidance.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jamie Medina and fiancé McKayla Natal of Denison, Texas; five grandchildren, Ethen Medina, Jada Medina, Estrella Medina, Illuminada Medina, and Jamiah Medina; two brothers, Bernardo Medina and wife Eva of Littlefield, Texas, and Robert Medina and wife Eloise of Littlefield, Texas; two sisters, Esther Cantu and spouse Tony Sierra of Lubbock, Texas, and Tina Rendon of Denison, Texas; and multiple nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Lydia is preceded in death by her parents, Andres and Theodora Medina; two brothers, Raul Medina and Juan Medina; and a sister, Mary Medina.

Message:

After visiting with the family and his friends I could see the great person Lydia was and how She loved life he loved her family.

Today we come together to honor and celebrate the life of Lydia!

There is one greater than us!!!

One that took away the sting of death by his resurrection. You see in John 14:1-6 Jesus states

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling-places. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. And you know the way to the place where I am going.’ Thomas said to him, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?’ Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Just like Thomas we might be asking How can we know the way!!!!

You might be saying today how can I handle any more grief or pain in this life.

They answers are found in the words of Jesus, when he said I am the Way, and the truth and the life.

You see even in pain, grief and sorrow we have a great Joy that runs deep!!!

We know based on the words of our Savior that those who have placed their trust in Jesus will have a glorious reunion.

Jesus said, I am the resurrection and the life.

Those who believe in me, even though they die, yet they shall live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.

I am the Alpha the Omega, the beginning and the end the first and the last.

I died and behold I am alive for evermore, and hold the keys of hell and death because I live, you shall love also.

As we come here gathered today in God’s presence as family and friends to remember the life of Delmer

We come together in grief, acknowledging our human loss.

May God grant us grace, that in pain we may find comfort, in sorrow hope, in death resurrection.

*Friends and family there is comfort in the memories of how Delmer touched your lives and made it different

*There is comfort in remembering that death is not the end if you have a relationship with Christ.

*There is comfort in knowing that you can see those who have a relationship with Christ again.

* Our greatest comfort is found in Christ.

Jesus said, “come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest” Jesus has promised through the writer of Hebrews, “I will never leave you…nor forsake you.”

And it is through a relationship with Christ that we are able to say as the Psalmist, “though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”

In reality we are not given a choice about whether to meet death, or even when to meet death, only how to meet death.

Jesus promises eternal life to “ those who believe in him and have a relationship with him.”

Today, beyond our natural sorrow, there is a supernatural joy that comes from knowing:

…the reality of Jesus

…the reality of God’s love

…the reality of forgiveness

…the reality of the new birth

…the reality of Heaven

…the reality of eternity

*This is our hope

*This is our confidence

It is because of the hope we have in Christ that gives us Hope when we find ourselves in such sorrow and pain.

1 Corinthians 2:1 tells us that no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.

He has a place prepared where there is no pain, no tears, no fear, no depression, Those same hands that died for us will wipe every tear from our eyes.

When we die we are just begging the chapter of our true lives, Our life here on Earth is Just the cover of our lives.

You know, we have hope today. We have hope because John 3:16 says,

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

I also love Luke 12:32. It says, "'Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.'"

Isn’t that encouraging . . .

God is our Shepherd, Father & King.

And Speaking of a Shepherd. The 23rd Psalm says:

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.

He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside still waters, he restores my soul. He guides me along the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness & mercy will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

This really is a Celebration of life.

At just the right time, Jesus called Lydia Home.

And the Bible tells us a little about Heaven…

Revelation 21:4 says, In Heaven, “God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

In Heaven, There are no prisons, no hospitals, no sickness, no weakness, no death, no suffering. No worry or depression…

Right now, Lydia is in Heaven:

With no more pain or suffering…

I’m so thankful for that.

And I’m so thankful for the life Lydia.
