The Pillar of Fire

What does fire do?

Provides Warmth

Burns things

Gives Light

Exodus 13:21–22 CSB

The Lord went ahead of them in a pillar of cloud to lead them on their way during the day and in a pillar of fire to give them light at night, so that they could travel day or night. The pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night never left its place in front of the people.

God Guides us and shows us how to live and how to obey his Word

God helps us make Good Decisions, but we must follow him if we want what He thinks is best for us

Luke 3:16–17 CSB

John answered them all, “I baptize you with water, but one who is more powerful than I am is coming. I am not worthy to untie the strap of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. His winnowing shovel is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and gather the wheat into his barn, but the chaff he will burn with fire that never goes out.”

God is also a refiner

He will purify us from our sin, through forgiveness and sanctification

God is lastly a Judge

He will Judge us for our sin

If we are not found in Him we will have a punishment called the Lake of Fire

We can be found in Him by accepting Jesus’ payment for our sin and living with HIM as our LORD

If we allow Him to use His fire to purify us, we won’t have to experience his FIre that Judges us
