God's Rescue Plan
Introduction
Introduction
Have you ever been lost before? Maybe in a store or at a park. It's a scary feeling because you don't know how to get back.
The Bible says that every person is spiritually lost because of sin. But God loved us so much that He made a way for us to come back to Him.
Let's walk down The Romans Road together.
1. We Have All Sinned
1. We Have All Sinned
Romans 3:23 (ESV)
Romans 3:23 (ESV)
"For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."
Ask the children:
Have you ever told a lie?
Have you ever disobeyed your parents?
Have you ever been mean to someone?
The Bible calls those things sin.
Sin is anything we think, say, or do that goes against God.
The Bible doesn't say some people have sinned.
It says all have sinned.
That includes me.
That includes you.
2. Sin Has a Consequence
2. Sin Has a Consequence
Romans 6:23a (ESV)
Romans 6:23a (ESV)
"For the wages of sin is death..."
Explain:
A wage is something you earn for doing a job.
The Bible says sin earns something too.
It earns death.
That means our sin separates us from God because God is holy.
But that's not the end of the verse.
God has wonderful news!
3. God Offers a Free Gift
3. God Offers a Free Gift
Romans 6:23b (ESV)
Romans 6:23b (ESV)
"...but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Hold up a wrapped gift.
Ask:
"If I gave you this gift, would you have to pay me?"
No.
"What would you have to do?"
Receive it.
Salvation is God's gift.
We cannot earn it.
We receive it by trusting Jesus.
4. God Loves Us
4. God Loves Us
Romans 5:8 (ESV)
Romans 5:8 (ESV)
"But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
God didn't wait until we were good enough.
He loved us while we were still sinners.
Jesus lived a perfect life.
He died on the cross for our sins.
Three days later, He rose from the dead.
Jesus took the punishment we deserved because He loves us.
5. Believe in Jesus
5. Believe in Jesus
Romans 10:9 (ESV)
Romans 10:9 (ESV)
"Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Believing isn't just knowing about Jesus.
It means trusting Him with your life.
It means believing He died for your sins, rose again, and is the only One who can save you.
6. Everyone Can Come to Jesus
6. Everyone Can Come to Jesus
Romans 10:13 (ESV)
Romans 10:13 (ESV)
"For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."
Ask:
Does everyone include boys?
Yes.
Does it include girls?
Yes.
Does it include kids?
Yes.
Does it include adults?
Yes.
Anyone who truly turns to Jesus in faith can be saved.

Invitation
Invitation
Boys and girls, listen carefully.
Coming to church doesn't save you.
Coming to VBS doesn't save you.
Being baptized doesn't save you.
Trying to be a good person doesn't save you.
Only Jesus saves.
If tonight you understand that you are a sinner, that Jesus died and rose again for you, and you want to trust Him as your Savior and Lord, I want to invite you to talk with me or one of our VBS leaders after we pray.
We won't pressure you or rush you.
We simply want to open God's Word and help you understand what it means to follow Jesus.
Closing Prayer
Closing Prayer
"Father, thank You for loving us so much that You sent Jesus to die for our sins. Thank You that He rose again and offers eternal life to everyone who trusts Him. Help each child understand the gospel clearly. Draw hearts to Yourself, and give us courage to respond to Your truth. In Jesus' name, Amen."
