There's a seat at the King's Table

2 Samuel 9:1-13

Psalm 23:5 “Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.”

Luke 14:15–24 “And when one of them that sat at meat with him heard these things, he said unto him, Blessed is he that shall eat bread in the kingdom of God. Then said he unto him, A certain man made a great supper, and bade many: And sent his servant at supper time to say to them that were bidden, Come; for all things are now ready. And they all with one consent began to make excuse. The first said unto him, I have bought a piece of ground, and I must needs go and see it: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused. And another said, I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come. So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind. And the servant said, Lord, it is done as thou hast commanded, and yet there is room. And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. For I say unto you, That none of those men which were bidden shall taste of my supper.”

Revelation 19:9 “And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.”

John 6:35 “And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.”

Ephesians 2:4–7 “But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.”

Everyone longs for belonging. Throughout scripture God reveals himself through a table a place of fellowship provision covenant healing restoration and family

The enemy wants you to believe

you’re too broken, you’re to sinful, you’re forgotten, you’ll never belong

But the king has already prepared a seat with your name on it

The King is looking for someone to bless 2 Samuel 9:1 “And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?”

David was looking for someone to bless

This is Gods heart Jesus came to seek and to save that which is lost

God has been searching for you way before you decided to look for him

The invitation reaches to L-Debar

2 Samuel 9:4–5 “And the king said unto him, Where is he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he is in the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, in Lo-debar. Then king David sent, and fetched him out of the house of Machir, the son of Ammiel, from Lo-debar.”

Lo-debar means no pasture no word no provision

Mephibosheth lived in hiding because he believed his past determined his future because of who he was born determined his outcome.

Today I want to tell you who you was born doesn’t determine your end you may have thought you will always be like your dad or your mom but that does not determine your end

Many of you all are living in lo-debar you are bound by shame you are discouraged addicted wounded feeling forgotten

But the King’s invitation reaches every barren place he is inviting you

No one is too far away from the grace of God

grace speaks before judgement

2 Samuel 9:7 “And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually.”

Fear expected death

Grace offered life

Fear expected rejection

Grace offered relationship

The first words from teh King were words of peace

Many of you are afraid of what the king may say but he has a table spread and is asking looking on you today with grace asking if you willl come and take your seat

Many still approach God as servants instead of as sons and daughters

we have been made sons and daughters how do you go to your parents? It is with confidence and you know they will respond in grace and mercy because of thier love for you

The table restores what the fall stole

2 Samuel 9:7–10 “And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually. And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am? Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master’s son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house. Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master’s son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master’s son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.”

David restored land inheritance provision identity and family jesus restores joy peace purpoose authority fellowship with the father

Salvation is more than forgivenss its restoration

Scripture reminds us three times of Mephibosheth was lame

yet every day he sa at the Kings table When seated his scars remained his identity changed His feet were hidden beneaath the table Like wise christ covers us with his righteousness The enemy remebers your failures god remembers His covenant

The table is a place of transformation At god’s table slaves become sons Sinners become saints, the rejected become accepted the orphan becomes family the hungry becomes satisified the broken become whole the table changes everything

The Kings table leads to revival

Psalm 23 says you prepare a table before me Joel 2 promises restoration before oupouring The last supper came before pentecost God always calls his people back to intimacy before sending them power Revival begins at the Kings table before it goes out the church mus learn to feast on his presence before it can feed a hungry world

Luke 14 says go oout into the highways and hedge and compel them to come The kings table is not full there is room for the prodigal the addicted the weary the broken the religious the overlooked Mephibosheth came to the palace execting judgement but he found mercy restoration fellowship covenant permanent seat Jesus offers the same today you may come from Lo-debar bt you don’t have to live there The king has prepared a table the seat is reserved you just need torespond

have you been living in lo-debar? Have fear and shame or failure kept you from accepting Are you sitting at the worlds table instead of Gods Will you leave your barren place and come to the kings table
