The book of Joshua opens with God commissioning Joshua to take over from mosses to lead the children of Israel to the land that floweth with milk and honey, this great man of valour was a army commander and warrior, he was with Moses in the wondering of the children of Israel, he was one of the spies that went to Canaan forty years prior to this great even. This is the man God charge to take on the task of conquering Canaan his name means Jehovah-saved
Joshua had sent two men to spy out the land not 12 as Moses before, this was a divine plan of the lord for they have been three separate occasion where spies were sent to Canaan and this as only been the one and only one instance where it was successful
(1) the sending of the twelve by Moses from Kadesh-barnea; (2) the instance before us; (3) the sending of men to view Ai.
They were secretly sent to view the city before it was destroy
not because Joshua didn’t have faith in God, but the lord new that he had a whole family in that city, and he wanted to save them, for he knew of the faith of Rahab that she believe in him for the bible says that faith comment by hearing the word of God Rehab had heard of the many works that God did to king of Og he dried up the red sea he defeated the Egyptians she must be saying it is enough Oh lord I’ve seen your mighty works, and save me now Oh lord for I know that you came to seek and save that which was lost and if i, we, you just believe he is a rewarded of those who diligently seeks him
I’m right there in josh 2;2
These two spies were taken in by a harlot these are men of God fining themselves in a house of fornication and adultery yet they had the strength to remain loyal in so must so that people from the same wore house could see that they weren’t from that city because the bible says that
‘’ our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,’’
‘’ For ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;’’
