Base Text Matthew 5:14-16

Jesus identified Himself clearly as the He was the “Light of The World”, this is absolutely remarkable and instructive to us as believers even to this day and age.
John 8:12 NKJV
12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”
When Jesus stated that He was the “Light of The World” this took place the next day after the amazing ceremony called, “ the Illumination of the Temple, which is where the lighting of the four lampstands, that took place in the Temple’s court of Women, using old priestly garments as wicks along with massive amounts of oil to create flames so bright that the lampstands lit up the city of Jerusalem.
Now that we have some context of “Light of The World” and a mental picture to go by let us dive in head first here, we can truly begin to see that we as believers our identity as light flows directly from our connection to Jesus who is the “light of the world”
It is a great fact that He is the light of the world and this is foundational to our own thought process and we must control it as we look into the unforgettable words of Matthew 5:14-16, where our Lord directly applies those words to us.
Matthew 5:14–16 NKJV
14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. 16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
