Thou Art Vile (v. 14)

The Lord has given a commandment -> as sure as light was created when He demanded, your destruction will come
There is not a stone that will last long enough for God to etch His commandments into (Mat. 24:35; Ps. 119:89)
The eternal power of God is fixed in wrath against all who reject His offer of salvation -> which Nineveh did!
No more of your name will be sown -> an eternal finality to the judgement
Not only can no one change God’s mind, but His judgement is final and everlasting (Mk. 9:42-48)
God will remove the idols from you -> you will be open and defenseless before God
As God has done to the followers of Egyptian gods, Daagon, Nebuchadnezzar, and all other gods, He will do to you
What you are doing is not and will not work, and you will be completely destroyed
God has prepared your grave because you are vile! -> God will move against you in judgement
You are not worth saving, so doing it your way will not get you by
God’s pronouncement of judgement on Nineveh came at a time in which they could no longer repent
Do not postpone until you are given over to a reprobate mind! -> Jesus is the way!

Look Up! (v. 15)

For the children of God, look up and hear the good tidings and peace!
Not just a lack of chaos, but actual, complete, and whole peace (Is. 11:1-10)
The same God who declares dread and wrath declares peace for us!
While against them, He is for us!
Keep your feasts and perform your vows, for no one will cut you off!
No longer will there be reason to fear serving our Lord, and no longer will one stand between us
Where once they were separated from God, God was working to bring them back
Children of God, look up and be encouraged by our God who fights for us!
