Introduction

There are mistakes we make in life that can be corrected. A wrong turn can be reversed. A broken relationship can sometimes be restored. Money that has been lost can potentially be earned again. A missed opportunity may be followed by another opportunity. But there is one mistake that cannot be corrected after death: leaving this world without receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

The greatest tragedy is not dying without wealth, recognition, education, possessions, or worldly accomplishments. The greatest tragedy is dying without Jesus. You can have your name written on property deeds, business documents, awards, and certificates—but the most important question is whether your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.

God does not desire anyone to perish. The message of salvation is not intended to drive us away through condemnation; it is God lovingly calling us home. The cross declares that our sins are serious, but it also declares that God’s love is greater. Jesus has already paid the price, opened the door, and extended the invitation. It may appear substantial while we are living it, but compared with eternity, it is incredibly brief. We must not invest everything in a temporary life while neglecting our eternal soul.
