Every life is represented by a tiny dash between two dates on a gravestone, but the influence of that dash can last for generations. The lives of Solomon, Rehoboam, Jeroboam, and David remind us that our choices never affect only us. Compromise leaves behind a legacy of brokenness, while faithfulness leaves behind a legacy of blessing. The good news is that through Jesus—the true and faithful King—we are no longer bound to repeat the failures of those who came before us.
