We often see double entendres in our culture and everything here is often interpreted as dirty, sexual, Solomon uses very expressive language about his bride. Much as our Husband and His Father does for us. We’ll look as we go

The wedding happens and now, Solomon speaks first, singing the praises of this bride of his.

Now when we see all these comparisons, its a wonder to hear him describe her and I can see Israel and the Church in this as well.

The hair of the black goats going down the mountain is beautiful. Glistening with trails of white, bouncing and flowing. When the father looks at us, he sees the beautiful garments of Christ on us. That makes it clear we are the bride 9 Then he said to me, “Write: ‘Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!’ ” And he said to me, “These are the true sayings of God.””

v. 4 Neck like a tower of David the mighty men hung their sheilds to show their allegiance and their protection/devotion. She no doubt wore shekel like necklaces, usually gold or precious metals - her neck showing her power in capturing Solomon.

(Almost all) His descriptions comes from life and the things that every man at that time would know and the best things of life, he uses in that comparison.

And when the Father looks at us, he sees the how the garments of Christ minister to us.

Song of Solomon 4:16–5:1

v16 The whole idea of intimacy is needed to be taught to young people. We as the church need to learn how to say I love you in so many ways. We should get that we need to be inventive in how we speak love to our spouses. Not just love you, love you too, and peck.

But when I see your eyes they glistening like a storm, one that brings cleansing rain, wind like laughter and the singing of birds as it passes. Right?

But we also need to learn to love one another better. Yes, love tells the truth, love confronts sin. But how do we do it? Even if someone is tough, the approach should be filled with grace. I can never go wrong with grace.

5:1 Now as I said I don’t want to over-do the metaphor, but it shouts at us, much like it shouted at the Rabbis who coined the Tanakh (scriptures) are holy but the Song of Songs is the Holy of Holies. That should help us to see the completeness that surpasses even human marriage and one flesh. As we enter in to Christ, we do so through dying to this world and being born again by the Holy Spirit. Surely we are given true life!

If this were sexual he wouldn't say come on buddies, join in! No he shouts to them to be intoxicated by love. The bible says similar to us, Look with me at Eph 5

Ephesians 5:15–21  “ See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another in the fear of God.”

We know what being toasted looks like. But we need to learn that there is more enjoyment, power and blessing for all when we walk in the HS. How do we do this. Liz told me this once you remember what you said?…back to SS 5

Now again, not to read to much into this, the idea that she cant stand any minute away from Solomon. The royal couple didn't live in shared bedroom. There was the kings chamber, the queens chamber, etc. Many think the remainder up to 7 is perhaps a dream?

I like how the NLT translates Song of Solomon 5:9  “ Why is your lover better than all others, O woman of rare beauty? What makes your lover so special that we must promise this?”

Song of Solomon 5:10–16

This reminds me of the description of Jesus in Revelation 1:12–18 where Jesus is described in similar manner. Suggest you read later.

Again, he has gone to care for Israel. She misses every moment with him. Just like we long to see the face of Christ.

God often talks about how our relationship with Him, produces fruit. She goes to see if hers has.
