Forgiveness

Introduction:

Many of us don’t know how to forgive. Others don’t attempt to forgive.
How do you handle unresolved issues with others?

Communicate with those who offend you First ()

Matthew 18:15 ESV
“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.
Tell him how you were hurt by him
don’t assume he knows you are hurt
don’t assume he knows what he has done
Jesus says go to him alone
Jesus says go with the intention of gaining a brother
Application: How do you address those who have hurt you? Don’t make matters worse by causing more hurt or retaliation. Look for the right way to communicate with those who hurt us.

Bring the Matter to Him Again In the Presence of Witnesses ()

Matthew 18:16–17 ESV
But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses. If he refuses to listen to them, tell it to the church. And if he refuses to listen even to the church, let him be to you as a Gentile and a tax collector.
