The Divine Intersection

Context

The Eunuch was returning to Jerusalem to Egypt. He went to Egypt to worship. An outsider, travels worship in a place he would not be accepted nor allowed.

The Eunuch travels 1,800- 2,000 miles to worship…

Philip is in Samaria, preaching the Gospel. Telling people about the Kingdom of God and of Jesus Christ. 1,000s of people are responding positively to the message. People are being healed and evil spirits are leaving people. People are finding hope and healing. then an angel of God tells Philip, leave this great movement and go south, to a desert road. Philip is 40 miles from Jerusalem and depending on where he meet the Eunuch on the desolate desert road to Gaza… he would have been 2-3 days walk minimum.

All for 1 man, a man who would not be permitted to worship God in Jerusalem, but traveled several weeks to 2 months one way in a carriage caravan.

How would you respond if God tells you to leave a great revival of sorts, where you have witnessed and been influencial in 1,000s of people placing their faith in Christ and being healed.

Then, after Philip has shared the gospel with the Eunuch, the Holy Spirit takes him to Azotus… back up to Samaria (just before)

Obedience required Philip to leave a thriving, highly successful revival in Samaria to travel to an isolated, barren location

Hope

Even when some say you have no place, God says enter in.

The critical distinction: God didn’t change His mind about eunuchs—He changed the system through which His people access Him. The ceremonial framework was temporary; the moral law reflects His unchanging character. So the eunuch’s inclusion doesn’t open the door to abandoning other prohibitions—it depends entirely on whether those prohibitions are ceremonial (fulfilled in Christ) or moral (reflecting God’s eternal character).
