Call to Worship

Psalm 93:1–2 LSB

Yahweh reigns, He is clothed with majesty; Yahweh has clothed and girded Himself with strength; Indeed, the world is established, it will not be shaken. Your throne is established from of old; You are from everlasting.

Father God,

We are gathered here together today because You reign. We worship You and adore You for You are clothed in strength and power. Our minds cannot perceive Your eternality, and yet we acknowledge it because Your Word tells of it. May You be honored and glorified this day in everything we say and do.

In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Pastor’s Prayer

Father,

We humbly come before You this day acknowledging our constant need of Your sustaining power. We are feeble creatures, but You are all-powerful.

Father, we think of those among us who are hurting. Some are hurting because of constant conditions; some are hurting because of temporary conditions. But You are Sovereign in all of these conditions. You are in each and every story. May we seek Your face to learn what it is that we need to learn during our times of trial. I think of Glenna, Lloyd, Jodi, and others who seem to have a long road of struggle in front of them. Sustain them, heal them according to Your will. And teach them to say from their hearts that Your grace is sufficient for them.

Lord, I think of our missionaries serving in various places. I think of the Teachouts serving in Canada. Strengthen them in their ministry to the Acadian people.

Lord, I pray for those Christians around the globe who are being persecuted for their faith. Give them strength to endure. Lord, our nation was founded on the principle of religious freedom, and yet I perceive that in the near future this religious freedom may be taken away from us. Lord, help us through these times.

Father, I commit these thing to You this day. In Jesus’ name, amen.
