Romans 8:31-34

Romans 8:31–32 “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?”

Isn’t that encouraging

this is such a powerful truth

God has zero threats to Him because he defeated them all

satan’s only power was sin and death

Jesus lived a perfect life therefore qualified as the perfect Lamb

He became all sin on the cross, past, present, future

sin of everyone who ever has lived, was alive, and would live after

then He willingly died for that sin

He paid the legal price demanded by that sin

sin was defeated right then and there

it is powerless to those who have applied Jesus’ payment to their sin

Then came the 3rd day where God through Holy Spirit rose Jesus from the dead to eternal life

Jesus is alive and well today

Jesus sits on the throne

therefore Jesus defeated death

satan is truly powerless and zero threat to God

trying to fight a war with zero weapons leads to a quick and crushing defeat

If then the ultimate victor God is for you

who can be against you?????????

NO ONE

Psalm 118:6

Psalm 118:6 “The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: What can man do unto me?”

Since God is on your side

there really should be zero fear

man can kill you yes

but all that does is gets you home to Jesus and heaven faster!!!!!

why should we fear that?

If you truly believe that Jesus is who He says He is

If you truly believe that God has done all He has said He has done

death is a homecoming not something to fear

fear is of the devil....how do I know

I John 4:18

1 John 4:18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”

There is no fear in love because God’s love...perfect love casts out fear

fear is not of God it is of the enemy and when you give fear a foothold in your life you are setting yourself up to fail

God has defeated fear and His love casts it out....when fear shows up in your life show it the door through the love of God

Since God through Jesus has achieved total victory and is for us

you and I...Christians.....not the lost but the saved....have no real threats to us spiritually either

However you and I give satan power when we believe his lies

you are not good enough

first you heart his about salvation

you are too bad to be saved

you are the only one God can’t save because you are not good enough

you have to clean yourself before you get saved

you have to clean yourself up before you come to church

I want to pause for a moment and encourage you

i truly believe this church......this body of Christ accepts all who walk through the door

doesn’t accept their sin....will bring their sin into the light with Scripture

but accepts.....i don’t care if whoever walks in

stinks

has shorts and tank top on

has alcohol on their breath

is high from the night before

is living in sin

how can the be led to repentance that leads to salvation if they are never exposed to the truth

faith comes by hearing

how can they hear if they are ran out of a building because of what they look like

what they smell like

what they are dressed like

satan says those people are to rejected so they can continue to hell

Jesus says I died for them

Love them and show them Me

show them the Truth

John 3:16

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

whosoever believeith in Him

you don’t get to pick and choose who is saved

you don’t get to pick and choose who comes to church

Jesus came for anyone who would accept him.......you are not called to separate who will and who will not accept Jesus

You are to love everyone.....God’s love with truth and mercy and grace....and let Holy Spirit lead you and guide you and direct you

sometimes wolves will come in dressed as sheep and God will show us that and the leadership will take care of that as directed by God’s Word

what Jesus just told us in John is

your past doesnt matter

your sins are paid for and when you believe....make Jesus your Lord and Savior you are saved

period end of story

not because of you but because of Jesus!

Romans 4:25

Romans 4:25 “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”

Jesus delivered you

Jesus justified you

nothing you can do to earn deliverance

nothing you can do to earn justification

they only thing you can do is accept or reject

you may be hearing or even saying

you don’t know my past

you don’t know my awful sins

you are right I probably don’t but Jesus does

God knew them before you lived it and committed those sins and died for you anyway

Romans 5:8

Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

While you were God’s enemy

He sent Jesus to die for you

God knows and Jesus died for you anyway!!!!

You are worthy not because of you but because of Jesus and God’s love

Here is what we forget or don’t understand

God stopped at nothing

absolutely nothing to save you

He gave Jesus....His one and only Son to die in your place

to pay your price by becoming your sin and dying for that sin paying the legal price

God stops at nothing to save you so why after paying such a high price would he just let you go and be destroyed

He doesnt

He protects you

You are His child

but i still sin.....yep

but I still have evil in me.......yep

but satan still accuses me....yep

Let’s look at that

Romans 8:33-34

Romans 8:33–34 “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.”

Through Jesus you are God’s elect

we have looked at that in detail last week

God’s elect

if you are God’s elect through Jesus who can lay a charge against you

Listen I can lay a charge

your spouse can lay a charge

your kids can lay a charge

your church family can lay a charge

your enemies can lay a charge

all legit charges by the way

charges you can’t beat because they are true

you are guilty but look at scripture

Charges can be brought but do no good because Jesus’ blood already paid for those charges and therefore you are justified through Christ alone

to God it is as if you never sinned in terms of the legal aspect of sin

what we are talking about is condemnation

satan tries to condemn you all the time

condemnation is receiving what is due

When someone is charged with a crime

they are arrested

those charges are sent to district attorney

if district attorney believes there is enough evidence they send it to trial

in the trial the evidence is all heard and the judge or jury makes a decision guilty or innocent

we are always guilty spiritually.....you and I will continue to sin until Jesus returns or we are promoted home

then the judge chooses to condemn or not to condemn

that is the sentence

the judge may condemn that person to serve life in prison or even be put to death depending upon the crime

God condemns those who reject Jesus

but for those who are saved when the charges come it is clear we are guilty but Jesus says Dad I paid for that one....time is served...He or she is ours

Remember

Romans 8:1

Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”

No condemnation in Christ Jesus

satan tries to condemn but only God holds the power to legally condemn

the condemnation that is in your life

you are awful

you deserve hell

you cant be good enough

you are the one God cant save

all from satan designed to keep you away from God

John 3:17

John 3:17 “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

Jesus came to save not condemn

The lost will face condemnation at judgement where God will hold them accountable for their sins and they will feel the fullness of His wrath

for the saved there is no condemnation but it goes beyond that

Jesus currently intercedes for you

Psalm 110:1

Psalm 110:1 “The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, Until I make thine enemies thy footstool.”

Jesus sits at God’s right hand until it is time for Him to come again

at that time Jesus isn’t coming to save but to destroy evil

Jesus returns the second time as a warrior

until then He sits at God’s right hand and intercedes for you and for me

He advocates for you

I John 2:1

1 John 2:1 “My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:”

Jesus your personal advocate to God

there is Freedom just thinking about that

Jesus defends you against the charges

Jesus intercedes for you

satan can accuse you all he wants but the charges never stick because they have already been paid for

here is a truth you must grasp

Hebrews 4:14

Hebrews 4:14 “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.”

Jesus is your

Jesus is my

Jesus is all Christians High Priest

why is this important

what did the high priest do

well they did many things but most important was once a year he entered the Holy of holies in the temple...where God lived

what did he do there

he interceded for the people of Israel

he sought to appease God’s wrath against their sin

he was standing in the gap as God commanded for the people of Israel

however the high priest could never forgive sin.....it was only an appeasement

Jesus however didn’t appease He fulfilled

He became that sin and died for that sin and offers forgiveness for that sin

Jesus is our great high priest who stands in the gap for you

Jesus defeats the accusations and charges laid on you by satan

Hebrews 7:25

Hebrews 7:25 “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.”

Intercession

standing in the gap

going before God defending you

not only defending you but reconciling you

Hebrews 2:17-18

__________________

Hebrews 2:17–18 “Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.”

Here is what truly sets Jesus apart

He was God

He is God

He will always be God

yet He choose to be man

He choose to be creation

He choose to be flesh and blood

Jesus understands everything about us because He was us

He experienced everything that we experience yet He never sinned

He never failed

He was and is perfect

However He still felt it and He can relate to us in a personal manner because He was us

Now make sure we get this

He never condones

He never accepts

He never ignores your sin or anyones sin

but He understands us

He does the job of High Priest with an understanding and compassion and empathy that only one who goes through it can have

He reconciles us to God....that can’t be undone or stopped

Hebrews 4:14-16

Hebrews 4:14–16 “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

because of Jesus you can boldly enter the throne room of God to obtain mercy and find grace in times of need

Here is what separates us as Christians from the world

When tragedy strikes

we feel it

we are hurt by it

loss of a loved one sucks....it hurts

cancer sucks....it hurts

business failures suck....they hurt

life at times sucks and it hurts

however for a Christian when those things happen you don’t run to a bottle

you don’t run to a needle

you don’t run to the arms of a lover

you don’t go on a spending spree

you don’t run to the nearest buffet

no as a Christian you kick the door of the throne room open and run to your Father

you run to God’s mercy and grace

Why

Because of Jesus

Hebrews 9:24-28

Hebrews 9:24–28 “For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.”

Jesus is in heaven right now fighting for you

live in that truth

let that truth determine who you are

you have no fear because you truly have no enemy

Praise King Jesus!!!!

maybe you are hurting and broken and need mercy and grace....come and enter the throne room this morning
