By the time that Noah was on the earth, people had gotten so sinful that God decided to destroy everybody on earth with a flood. God had already been very patient with people, but He finally had enough. He decided to give the people 120 more years before He sent the flood.

From Adam to Noah’s birth was 1056 years. Since Noah was 600 years old when the flood came, it was 1656 years from Adam to the flood.
