Power In His Name

Significance… great significance in name.

Names are fundamental to human identity, they serve as a primary anchor for self perception and how others connect with us.

We see in scripture in the book of Genesis 2:19 how one of Adam's first job was to name all the animals.

Often times throughout scripture we see god change peoples names.

Simon —> Peter

Sual —> Pual

Jacob —> Isreal

Abram —> Abraham

Theres high value in names, Theres high value in our names, Theres high value in his name.

At times we can find ourselves planning and preparing names for our child. Who’s a victim to that? I’ll be honest I have a list full of names that i’ll like to name my child on day. But not any names… unique names.

Names that have meaning Names that have value.

And we see this all throughout scripture names that have value, names that hold power!

Jehovah - Jireh —> Our Provider

Jehovah - Ralpha —> Our Healer

El Shaddai —> The prince of Peace

And I can go on and on

Elohim

Emanuel

Yeshua

Yahweh

These names demonstrate the authority and infinite power that he has!

The same power and authority that we see in Luke chapter 10 or in the book of acts… All throughout scripture.

Every Saturday I spend time in solitude at the beach before I come up here and give you guys the lords word. I’ll be honest with you guys I’m a walker. I walk up and down the beach listening to my worship music while preaching to the ocean. At times I just stop and look at the waves. I find my self thinking:

How much power these waves uphold

How these waves demonstrate force you can see and feel

All I think about when looking at the waves is that this visible power points to the invisible authority we exclaim.

Scripture states that god created the havens and the earth!

The same god that created the ocean is the same god that created you

The same god that created storms is the same god that created the sun.

There’s power in that name!

God’s work in the material world speaks to us of his character.

The waves relentless power, the ability that it has to reshape coast lines, moves massive amounts of water and sustain itself across the entire ocean.

This becomes a physical sermon on gods name!

His name isn’t just a name it’s a name that moves creation a name so powerful he made all heavens and the earth!

We see this authority in the book of Luke. Luke 8:22–25 (Read it)

This significant story in scripture really shows the authority in his name how the raging waves calmed down before his name

This signifies his honor his status, and because of his obedience. God exalted him and gave him “the name that is above every name” giving us an understand-ment on the power and authority on his name!

Power

Healing

Salvation

Freedom

Pause…

At times we think about the doors that this bag can get us into… talk about places

And that’s because we walk in power when we have nice things. Talk about dressing up and feeling good.

There is power in his name a name so powerful

That the blind see

The deaf hear

The lame walk

The dead rise

Ohhhh i’m not finished… when we use his name it comes with such authority that demons flee behold his name! Healing takes place behold his name! All creation bows down behold his name!

We choose this LV purse because the name has proven to have value!

But when:

Life gets difficult

When there seems to be no hope

When everyone you know turns away from you

When you experience a loss

When you go through s break up

When something tragic happens

we turn to god… And that’s because we draw

courage

Power

And new strength

In the name of jesus

This designer purse becomes worthless in eternity. But there is salvation in no one else, god has given no other name under heaven be which we must be saved!

There is power in his name!
