Why is Evangelism important?

Did you know that on average 175,000 people die every day? That's 7,300 per hour, 120 per minute and 2 per second. If we look at it this way, how many people who aren't Christian die everyday? If the 31% of the worlds population that identifies as christian is to be belived, then that's roughly 121,000 people who die every day without Christ. That's a staggering number. Everyone is marching towards the grave at different speeds. no one knows when they will die. Its sad to know that many die without knowing Christ and excepting the gospel. Not that Hell should be our main reason for witnessing to others, but knowing others could end up there should make us run to witness to those headed there. For those who may not already know, lets understand exactly how bad hell is. Matthew 25:41 says that hell is a place that was prepared for the devil and his angels, but that God will also cast those who didn't except Jesus and repent into hell. Matthew also says in this same verse that it is an eternal fire. In Mark 9:48 says its a place where the worm doesn't die and the fire is not quenched. Matthew 13:41-42 describes it as a blazing furnace where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Revelation 20:10 says that they will be tormented day and night, speaking of Satan and his demons but also says that those who didn't except Christ will be there too in Revelation 20:15.

The saddest part about Hell is people don't have to go there but still do. WHY? Because they haven't excepted Christ and Repented. Like every other human being in the world, they have sinned against a holy God and haven't been reconciled. This is Why we need to evangelize. So many people are lost and need a savior. This should break our hearts. Some of the same people are our close friends, co-workers, fellow students, and family. If we actually care about these people we should be sharing the gospel with them.

Called and Commanded

Did you know that were all called and commanded to share the gospel? Matthew 28:18–20 “Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”” Mark 16:15 “Then he said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” 2 Corinthians 5:18–20 “Everything is from God, who has reconciled us to himself through Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. That is, in Christ, God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and he has committed the message of reconciliation to us. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making his appeal through us. We plead on Christ’s behalf, “Be reconciled to God.”” 1 Corinthians 9:16 “For if I preach the gospel, I have no reason to boast, because I am compelled to preach—and woe to me if I do not preach the gospel!”
