Jeremiah 1:1-10

INTRIGUE

Israel (the north) was already captured and exiled by Assyria.

Jeremiah 1-24 is all before Judah’s eventual exile…core message: you broke covenant. you worship other gods …idolatry as adultery

Chapter 26-45: Judgment and hope for Israel.

Chapter 46 - 51: Judgment and hope for the Nations.

INTERPRETATION

God always looks for surrendered hearts within a generation to lead the way to Him.

is everyone a once in a generation talent or history maker? NO.

Not everyone can achieve their dream…Sometimes our dreams don’t align with our design.

Everyone is significant and their contribution is valuable, but not equal in value.

illsus: Jesus said the master gave responsiblity to steward based on their ability…not all have same ability.

God designed each of us to play a role, and gives us gifts to contribute.

the longing of our hearts are given by God to bring us to Him to meet them…not meet them on our own terms

Leadership - safe

Generosity  - secure

Service - love

Mercy - wanted

Exhort - success

Prophecy - good enough

Teaching - purpose

Jeremiah 1:12 … The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I watch over my word to accomplish it.””

Jeremiah learned (from His dad, Hilkiah) that God’s word wouldn’t fail and would always pierce our heart…

everyone can disciple someone.

what have you learned? teach it to someone else, until you learn more

Are you modeling true apprenticeship to Jesus or just a consumer version of it?

Gen Z (ages 14–29) is willing to pay the price for the authentic life of Faith. …barna research says:

Gen Z is spiritually curious, even when skeptical of religious institutions. About 3 in 4 are open to spiritual conversations, and many identify as “spiritual” before “religious.”

Gen Z Christians who attend church are attending more frequently than any other adult generation. They average about 1.9 times per month, compared with 1.8 for Millennials and 1.6 overall.

Gen Z values authenticity over polish and production. They respond to honesty, vulnerability, participation, genuine community, and purpose more than entertainment.

Mental health and emotional well-being strongly shape Gen Z’s worldview. Anxiety, loneliness, depression, and uncertainty create an opportunity for the church to offer hope, belonging, purpose, and healing.

For many Gen Z adults, Relationships build trust, and trust creates space for meaningful conversations about faith, which leads to them believing.

Despite being digitally connected, Gen Z deeply desires in-person community. They want genuine friendships, shared experiences, meaningful rituals, and to be personally known—not simply consume content.

Gen Z is willing to wrestle with difficult questions about faith. They want churches to address suffering, sexuality, identity, justice, science, Scripture, and hypocrisy with both humility and conviction.

While institutional religion still faces challenges, many Gen Z adults are actively searching for meaning, community, and spiritual depth—creating significant opportunities for churches committed to authentic discipleship.

God’s plan is always beyond our perceived limitations of ourself.

..despite his perception of himself, jeremiah was invited to be an example and set a standard for God’s people to follow.

1 Timothy 4:11–16 “11 Command and teach these things. 12 Don’t let anyone despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity. 13 Until I come, give your attention to public reading, exhortation, and teaching. 14 Don’t neglect the gift that is in you; it was given to you through prophecy, with the laying on of hands by the council of elders. 15 Practice these things; be committed to them, so that your progress may be evident to all. 16 Pay close attention to your life and your teaching; persevere in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and your hearers.”

INTEGRATION

Overcome the fear of man by growing in the fear of God.

Becoming a standard bearer in God’s Kingdom requires you lay down the fear of man.

twice, God tells Jeremiah DO NOT FEAR THEM. (vs 8 & 17)

without fear of God, you won’t live with Godly wisdom. (Prv 1)

When you fear God, You love God’s Kingdom more than yours.

Jeremiah 1:12 “12 The Lord said to me, “You have seen correctly, for I watch over my word to accomplish it.””

God watches over HIS word, not ours.

so we pray, “YOUR KINGDOM come”

When you fear God, You live God’s standards

Jeremiah 1:16–19 “16 “I will pronounce my judgments against them for all the evil they did when they abandoned me to burn incense to other gods and to worship the works of their own hands. 17 “Now, get ready. Stand up and tell them everything that I command you. Do not be intimidated by them or I will cause you to cower before them. 18 Today, I am the one who has made you a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the population. 19 They will fight against you but never prevail over you, since I am with you to rescue you.” This is the Lord’s declaration.”

Strength of God comes from His standards
