God Looks at the Heart

Our Song service this morning and fell like an old fashioned singing been fun. And I appreciate very much Greg leaving just so you could very very good this morning. I bring an article not too long ago about Steven job who was one of the co-creators of apple and he was talking about in the early days of Apple, is things really started to take off. They needed a bunch of qualified people and where to find them how to find these folks. And so he began to do interviews and he had an interview people before he didn't really know what to ask. If he's just kind of go through that that process, but he developed a scheme that he thinks was or that he said was really important to making the choices at 3 to the questions. If the interviewee ask, if they can play with the machine, He hired them, if they said I can actually put hands on, can I actually do this? Can I try that? And you can understand why that may have come to him. This says, a lot of dissent today, but it's a good idea. You wanted to know what the interior of the person was liking and you could see more about that level of interest in that level of commitment there in the corporate world. I have never done a corporate interview so I don't know. But it's an outsider you very much appears like the corporate world wants to interview people to find out and the interviewee goes in to protect all their secrets. And so each of them have two totally different goals, totally different outcome. But we get I feel there for our society and how it works and how it's soaked connected to image. You know, it's just images of a company. Image of the employee is it ride? Is it true? Or is it valid? We don't know what is training Illusions here. Sometimes that's all we're doing. In our a direction to life to where it's kind of training, our sense of Illusion. The people who in our society who are able to do that effectively, sell an illusion are often very successful people. However, when it comes to our relationship, with God, being able to sell an illusion, has absolutely no count of all. Because God's not about illusions. He's not reality.

1st Samuel, 16:7 Samuel is sent to anoint. The new King Saul has been rejected as king and it's time to have a new one as says, in verse 76 rather, will they arrive Samuel? Salt alya been thought, surely the Lord's anointed stands here before the Lord. Why was he so impressed with Alaia? What are you look like a king? You look like the kind of guy that we can use some friends. They looked like that would be the guy that you were getting from Central Casting, you know, the field that roll. But the Lord said to Samuel, do not consider his appearance or his height, I like that one for I have rejected him.

The Lord does not look at the things people. Look at. People, look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

A little bit tricky for us because we look at David. And what we see in David is very flawed, individual David is not perfect. David has a man who makes mistakes, David is the man who makes huge mistakes. David is an adult server. David is a murderer. David's allows just ego to get out of check from time to time and people say, I don't understand this heart business.

He lived up to God's purpose. God had a purpose for David David understood that purpose, David related to that purpose when David failed. He was wounded when he was trying to find out what to do. He acquired of God when he wanted to make the right choices, he pulled himself up and try to see it through the reflective of God. When God says things to him like no you don't get to build the temple. Ultimately he has to deal with that and he does and so God can say of it. But he's after. Well, I to look at free things real quickly. The kind of give us a little bit of an understanding, about how we get to the people of God's hard. First of all, we recognize the limitations of man. David this week, David new it God knew that David was we did God believe the David would do everything perfectly. He may have told that or wanted that or wish that, but he understood that David was a man And it as a human person, he was going to make mistakes. He was bound to mess up. Because he was a human now. It's so interesting to me there is God wasn't looking for perfect. He was looking for willing. He was looking for David's heart for what he was the tenderness on the inside. That would allow David to have himself. A shinned is the kind of man, God woman.

God still isn't looking for perfect. He's looking for people who love him. He's like you people who want to serve him, I have too many problems. I have too much baggage. I have too many things are disappointing in my life I couldn't possibly be what God wants and would not God would like for me to be and got this. That's a decision. I get to make. I repeat I recognize your rotation. Bring them to me. I thought we worked at. We have a cold if we have a submission, if we have a willingness and we have loved. If we're willing to respond to leadership of our Lord and savior. Dodgers, I can work miracles, through you. The biggest problem we have is we don't see very well.

I want part of that? We have all these different ways of trying to explain why we could handle it better or do it better. And I told you before about my friend from Guthrie, who says, I'm the one guy in the world who can handle Rich's maid out. If I was a billionaire I would do it right. I think he's convinced himself that really is true. He didn't really understand why he hasn't gotten an opportunity. Perhaps, there's more Summit play. Then he really is getting a handle on there. Don says, she was literally, you can't trust what you see. And as we get more and more into a i and computer-generated stuff that's going to come bore and more to our reality. There's actually a case in Louisiana where a couple have gotten a divorce. The. man was the kind of say this correctly, like the Judgment went against him because he was having an affair. Sometimes I feel really strange. That feels really, really feels really a disarming because we just know this is got to be the right way. Just looks so, right. And God said, don't don't pay him back. No, no no, no. Don't look for Revenge but Lord it would be so perfect. It would just fit the right thing to do and I know you trust me in this

walk by faith.

We are restricted by our weaknesses are also useful to him because of the hobby, each of us can think of opportunities for we've had chances to be instrumental in God's Kingdom. That we've had.

Should we my really a point of connection other people in the world?

We're limited. Sure, but God sees us through a different lens and the lens of God sees us for what we can be. Not what we are. Peter and Matthew 16 verse 8, I tell you that you are Peter The Rock. And upon this confession church is going to be based not on Peter. The man with the fact that Peter was demonstrated confession of Jesus, the Christ but Jesus you're not signing any more your beer and you really have to study in the Bible and say well where does Peter step in?

There's all kinds of mistakes. If you go to Matthew chapter 18 and read further in the chapter, you'll find Peter makes a mistake before that chapter. Jesus has to correct him. Does he ever step up? She does a real good job. Is everything over from there. No. Second chapter of Galatians and remold it. So that he can get to be more like. The man that Jesus saw him. In the potential to be God. Wants us to grow. My mother. Used my mother-in-law used to say. You don't marry your husband. You get a kit. And she thought it was his responsibility to remake. The husband, God says I want you to be submissive to me and allow me to remake you because that is what God wants to do with us.

How do we develop the developmental process? Where are actually growing drink thing on a day-by-day basis or simple. Pick up your cross. Daily, follow me. If you're doing that, you're going to have the opportunity to grow and develop each. And every day. the third thing here is if God provides for us to light, we walk in the light as he is in the light.

Can we walk in the light? As he is in the light? We have fellowship with one another and the blood of Jesus, his son purifies us from all sin. We have Fellowship together and we have cleansing Fellowship from God. We're in this light. This is the place where we get to develop Purity. This is the place where we develop Integrity. This is the place where we are working on. Our sincerity in our genuineness, our willingness to forbear, willingness to forgive, all these opportunities are coming, And we have to chat, we have to choose what we're going to do with them. You know, sometimes you do say Jesus had some pretty harsh answers for folks. If you look carefully at the questions Jesus received, when he has genuine, really genuine questions that are being, as he answers them in a genuine. What? He gives them the information that they need. Sometimes he has people who work trying to trap it. Or manipulate him. And I've heard people say like that. We can't do that because Jesus had the ability to no heart. We don't know. We don't know if what we're saying is going to be too flippant or, too arrogant, it is too harsh. We don't know what could happen based on just our decision there. instead we respond in loving and kind ways, and God opens this light, It helps us to relate to other people.

You may remember a little movie. I think it's actually been a second but now inside out. Where you don't with all those internal emotions and really good way to characterize. And I think children benefit truly by seeing some of the ways that they manifested played buddy, can't do that perfectly perfectly. David says in Psalms 26, 2. Test me Lord and try me. Examine my heart. And my mind. That's scary to you.

His to me, I'd be hesitant to say that they got kissed me. Try me. See how I do? The truth is he doesn't wait for us to say that that's happening to us. Anyway, he is testing us for trying us and examining our hard over and over again. God's plan is to build us from the inside out. And ultimately that are outside, begins to reflect the inner core. The people have learned that a witness short step short circuit, that whole process is Just an Illusion, a record here. But what good is that to you? What good does that? Do you in storms? The difficulties and struggles and trials the temptation to just throw in the towel and let it all go. That our illusion doesn't mean anything. It's what really is. Inside of you, the worldly approach is totally opposite from God's approach.

We sometimes call those folks are the salt of the earth are people sitting in the room this morning, who were salt of the earth if he will let you know when your families there people that you love are people that you will watch over an entire life as they've grown from the inside out. And it's outside image is a full reflection of who would want. They really are. That's such a comfortable and wonderful that place to be.

And in fact, when I was first in Ministry, there was a lady who came did a workshop for us. And she has, she had taken the oscillating fan, when those kind of stands on a pole and put it over it and put it in her classroom. So we can move back and forth across the classroom and remind the kids there watching you

I've been wasted, clear that fear is the beginning of wisdom, fear is the beginning of knowledge. So sometimes fear could be the thing that gives us at for staff. We don't want, we can't stay there. I can remember. All of my life worrying about the all seeing eye. Until I was a young father and had too much to handle. this too many things going in so many different directions, and then on top of all that, Terry's mom and my dad, both had very serious health crises. And in that process, it began to emerge to be that God's not spying on me. He's watching me to be ready to help me and to provide the things that I have enough strength to do. And switching that little Concepts. Just has enlightened and it helped me so much. In my relationship to God. God's not concerned about my appearance. He's concerned about what's on the inside. He says, to me fuel, give me the freedom. I'll grow you. Into the person that Donnelly you want to be but the others need for you to be and I want you to be, would you be here with me?

Father, we pray that you would grow up from the inside. We pray that you would help us to truly develop those qualities. It from come from deep in our core. They cause us to be real, and right, and true and Faithful Servants, and soldiers of your kingdom. Help us to do that. And help us to make that, that was not to be caught up in the distractions are caught up in the twinkle of other things that help us to dedicate ourselves to being real LOL and your truth to shine through us. We pray this to your precious son.
