Thoughts

Being back at BH is a homecoming. It is good to see everyone. We are family, even if we're separated by the current mission. It is good to see Dr. John Harris and Jennifer. It is good to see all of you. However, as good as this is, it is nothing in comparison to what Sister Barbara is experiencing now.FAMILY REUNION
When I received the word of Sister Barbara’s passing, Inez and I just boo-hooed. It wasn’t for Barbara; it was for Allan, Beth, and Daisy. It was for myself and for you guys who knew her so well.
When I think about Barbara Cox, I see paradoxes. A paradox is something that seems to contradict, but when you really look at it, it all makes sense.
As I look at all the wonderful pictures, something really sticks out! As a bald man, I noticed that Sister Barbara had some hair! Let’s be real! Sister had some hair. When I first met her, I saw her as this classy lady who was always dressed nicely and always had her hair done.
Though she had this appearance of refinement and sophistication, at the core, she was a really simple lady. You had to get to know her.
Another paradox, one that Allan mentioned at one point, is that she would be the one making the seating arrangements. Sister Barbara had an opinion, and she did not mind sharing it with you, yet at the same time she could be quiet and reflective.
Just like Sister Barbara being a paradox, this life can be like that. None of us planned to be here today, yet she had planned for it. She was faithful through the good times and the hard times, loving her family and loving the church, but most importantly loving her Savior, Jesus.
We all know that we are going to be celebrating the life of loved ones at some point; we are just never really prepared for the day it happens.
What I have learned in following Jesus, reading His Word, and living this life is to simply embrace the paradoxes.
