Romans 8:1-11.

INTRODUCTION:

In the previous chapter, Apostle Paul confirms to those in Rome, that, just as now, the Believers of the 1st Century church had the power to overcome the pull of sin and find eternal rest from evil.
But, and this is huge, as it still applies today-
As long as we are alive in this world, we will have the constant tension between a life lived in holiness and our sinful nature.
Paul begins this section of his letter with a resounding, “Therefore, there is not CONDEMNATION, for those who are in Jesus Christ...”
Our victory, here on earth, is in the knowing that, since Christ has overcome the sting of Death, and the Grave...
Every believer of Christ can live a life of Victory every day and with a Blessed Hope of tomorrow.
With this part of the letter, Paul highlights the need for all believers to embrace the leading of the Holy Spirit to bring us into a more complete life in Christ.
It is the continuing companionship of the Holy Spirit that enables all believers to resist the constant pressure of sin- At the same time growing a deeper, more connected relationship with God the Father.
Paul brings added emphasis to the completed Saving Grace of Christs sacrifice and how it is shown throughout the entirety of Scripture- This NOT just a NT story.
In Christ alone and through Christ alone, our lives are not framed by our sins.
By Christ alone, We are now made to be new creations-
Reflecting the Grace of God in our lives
Free from the condemnations of the past
Now Empowered by the Holy Spirit to live fully in the Righteousness and Mercy of God.
It’s important to remember that:
In ancient Rome, a master could condemn a slave to death for almost any infraction.
Yet, if a slave could reach the altar of a temple, they would be granted asylum.
This vivid image reflects the promise we find in Romans 8:1, 'There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.'
Just as that slave found refuge at the altar, so too do we find our safety and acceptance in Christ, free from judgment and shame.
So let’s begin with:

1- No Condemnation:

Romans 8:1–2 ESV
There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
