31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren. 33 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. 34 And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.
Intro Tell the story: a conversation between Jesus and Peter
How near this stage in Jesus’s ministry was Peter the rock not converted, How being in the very presence of Jesus was not enough to convert this faithful follower of Christ.
first being converted is often something for the lost those that don’t know Christ im sure after three yrs with Jesus Peter knew a little something..
and in lies the issue after a rousing confession of faith and support from Peter Jesus lays it out for hime to understand before the cock shall crow this day thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me..
We have come with our grand testimonials and confessions of faith and yet how is it that we are not converted...
we
when we look at our lives we realize that we deny christ on every turn, when others / lets be real in the house today when we look at our own lives it doesn’t look very Christ like…We dont live like we know Jesus ....
how shall we be converted First we need to stop trying to rationalize our lives with our minds which allows us to make excuses for the things we do… how then shall we be converted which is repeated in the books of Matt, Mark and Acts
10 Make the heart of this people fat,
And make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes;
Lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears,
And understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
being converted we shall receive power to overcome sin and affliction power to overcome this world and addictions, power to love our neighbours, power to forgive and to teach our children about love and forgiveness,
how to understand with our heart Jesus said it like this
And make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes;
3 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. 4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
what then shall we do once converted
Lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears,
31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: 32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.
And understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
Strengthen thy brethren:
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. 35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
some of us need examples Paul in Romans chps 12-14 tells us that our life should be a living sacrifice and shows us what our daily walk with christ should look like then he tells us how to support our Brothers.
to strengthen we must build up and not tear down (let me be clear not build up yourself to belittle others) we must build up others and help others in their moment of weakness and being not judgmental remembering that we must all stand before the judgment seat of God ...
7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
