You Are Called…

Opening Scripture

Matthew 28:18–20 NIV

Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

The Great Commission — Jesus’s charge was given first to the 11 Apostles

The Apostles taught the charge to the Church

Jesus didn’t intend to only keep the commission rooted with the 11 Apostle’s… If that were the case the Church would have never multiplied.

The 11 were taught by Jesus so that they could effectively teach others the will of God through Jesus the Christ.

As Believers of Jesus we have been called to…..

Proclaim The Truth

Mark 16:15 NIV

He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.

Apart of the commission is to proclaim the truth that is rooted in Jesus Christ

He was born through a virgin named Marry

He took our place in judgement through the cross

He was raised from the dead so that we could be raised in victory through Him.

He ascended to prepare a place for us that we may be with Him for all eternity.

Some people overtime have tried to twist the gospel to force their own meaning to it

Some people have even created books and literature to try and deceive people to believe a one sided gospel.

The only true gospel is that in which is recorded in the scripture!!

In order to proclaim the truth we must be acquainted to the word of God!

Turn Away from Darkness

Luke 24:46–49 NIV

He told them, “This is what is written: The Messiah will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance for the forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”

God always proves His word to be truth…

God proves His word to be true through the testimony of other believers

God proves His word to be true through His Holy Spirit

Jesus revealed the “why” behind everything that would happen with His death and resurrection..

In order to turn away from Darkness we MUST Repent from anything that does not glorify God

The more we put God first place in every aspect of our lives the easier it becomes to see what does and what does not please/honor God.

Be FILLED…

Acts 1:8 NIV

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

In order to be an Effective witness you MUST receive the Holy Spirit..

We receive the Holy Spirit when we make the decision to turn away from our wicked ways and surrender our hearts and lives completely over to Jesus!

The Holy Spirit gives us POWER to do the work that Jesus called us to do!

The Holy Spirit should never be based on feeling but instead Faith and trust in God and His word

We can’t be filled with the Holy Spirit if we choose to be filled with worldly things…

Jesus has the power to break every chain!!

The Holy Spirit has the authority to convict you regarding Sin.

Your Next Steps

Know the gospel Spend time in God’s Word so you can clearly explain who Jesus is, what He accomplished through the cross and resurrection, and how people can respond to Him.

Examine your life and repent Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal anything pulling you away from God. Confess it, turn from it, and put Jesus first in that area.

Pray to be filled and empowered Surrender your plans, fears, and abilities to the Holy Spirit. Ask Him to give you power, wisdom, courage, and compassion to represent Jesus.

Identify your “one” Write down the name of one person who needs to experience the love and truth of Jesus. Commit to praying for that person daily and look for an opportunity to serve them or share your testimony.

Go and make disciples Take one intentional step this week. Invite someone to church, begin a spiritual conversation, share the gospel, study Scripture with someone, or help another believer grow.
