We have already seen the heart of a prayerwarrior in Daniel. He makes his heart felt prayer know (read Dan9:17-19)

Do you ever feel like God is not listening to your prayers or doesn’t hear them? Daniel did not have that issue, he knew God would hear his prayers and supplications just as we should know He hears our prayers.
In the O.T. God spoke ()
13 “If I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among My people, 14 and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 15 “Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place.
In the N.T. God revealed
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Then he must pray. Is anyone cheerful? He is to sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Then he must call for the elders of the church and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; 15 and the prayer offered in faith will restore the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up, and if he has committed sins, they will be forgiven him. 16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the earth for three years and six months.
Don’t grow weary in your prayer life, keep praying!

(Slide) Before Daniel finished his prayer; God heard his heart cry. What was Daniel doing?

16 Therefore, confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The effective prayer of a righteous man can accomplish much.
God is concerned about His children and hear’s their cry. He hears and He answers
(Slide) Sinlessness is not a condition for answered prayer.
(Slide)Gabriel shows up (as a man) - previously he appeared in his vision (Dan8:15-16) -when did he show up? Immediately, see (v.23) He was dispatched from God with a message, with an answer to Daniel’s prayer.
Why did he come?
(Slide) To give him insight
(Slide) To give him understanding
(Slide) Daniel was highly favored! - why? Because of His faith!
The importance of the message is stressed (v.23) - TAKE HEED. This is a time when Daniel had been reading Jeremiahs prophesy of the 70 years, and Isaiah’s prophesy about Cyrus now it is time for Daniel to gain new insight, new understanding to see things with spiritual eyes!

(Slide) There are different views on this passage, let me very briefly discuss

(Slide) 69 weeks would be 483 years bringing time to 25-26AD; which is about time of Jesus baptism

(Slide) What is necessary to pull from the passage is the things to be accomplished by the end of the 70 weeks.

(Slide) Sins will be brought to end
(Slide) Reconciliation/atonement for iniquity
(Slide) Everlasting righteousness established
(Slide) Vision/Prophesy sealed
(Slide) The Most Holy will be anointed
(Slide) So how is this fulfilled?
Jesus came and died for our sins (transgressions) - one sacrifice and it is done (Slide) ()
12 but He, having offered one sacrifice for sins for all time, sat down at the right hand of God,

6 For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. 10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

21 so that, as sin reigned in death, even so grace would reign through righteousness to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(Slide) Vision and prophesy sealed up ( or ) - to bring to the fullness of the prophesy, completion, no more revelation needed.
1 God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, 2 in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.
The Most Holy will be anointed - () - This is easily illustrated at the coming of the Holy Spirit on Pentecost; the new temple is then in place
19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?
You are the new temple, but what about a place? () - we enter the Most Holy place by the blood of the Lamb, God’s perfect sacrifice!
19 Therefore, brethren, since we have confidence to enter the holy place by the blood of Jesus,
(Slide) The people of the prince (v.26) Let’s look at this for a minute.
(Slide) The Roman army under direction of Titus destroyed Jerusalem in AD70. There you have the people and the prince.
(Slide) It does not make logical sense for 1st century Romans to destroy for a prince to come at some unknown date in the future.
(Slide) The flood, the war, the desolation - the judgment on Jerusalem that God used the people and the prince to destroy
(Slide) Firm covenant, can you guess the covenant in the last week?
(Slide) The covenant! The everlasting covenant
(Slide) Sacrifices no longer needed at the death of Christ
(Slide) Sacrifices no longer possible after AD70
(Slide) The wing of abominations will come - Titus who will destroy Jerusalem
(INVITATION) So the question arises that if you have this view or a millennial view the end is still the same -JESUS, you must have Jesus. Those who have Him, He has prepared a place for, those who do not chose Him there is a place prepared to, so chose wisely and no choice is a choice.
