Intro

I met with Tom and Sandra and we discussed what Scriptures to use. Tom knew that Lucielle’s favorite Psalm was seemed to remember her telling me that as well.
Psalm 1 NIV
Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
Psalm 1 NIV

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither— whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! For the Lord watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
Psalm 103 NKJV
A Psalm Of David. Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord executes righteousness And justice for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, Nor will He keep His anger forever. He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor punished us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, So great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, So the Lord pities those who fear Him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass; As a flower of the field, so he flourishes. For the wind passes over it, and it is gone, And its place remembers it no more. But the mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting On those who fear Him, And His righteousness to children’s children, To such as keep His covenant, And to those who remember His commandments to do them. The Lord has established His throne in heaven, And His kingdom rules over all. Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. Bless the Lord, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Lucielle's life followed verse 2, and 3.
Psalm 1:2–3 NIV

Psalm 103
Perhaps verses
Psalm 103 NIV
Of David. Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him; for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. The life of mortals is like grass, they flourish like a flower of the field; the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. But from everlasting to everlasting the Lord’s love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children’s children— with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. The Lord has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. Praise the Lord, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. Praise the Lord, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the Lord, my soul.
Psalm 103:1–6 NKJV

Psalm 103
Psalm 103:20–22 NKJV
Bless the Lord, you His angels, Who excel in strength, who do His word, Heeding the voice of His word. Bless the Lord, all you His hosts, You ministers of His, who do His pleasure. Bless the Lord, all His works, In all places of His dominion. Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Once, when I met with her she asked me to read from , and she told me how she loved that Psalm.
Psalm 121 NIV
A song of ascents. I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you— the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm— he will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
Pastor Aaron Brockmeier, remembered her favorite verse as .
1 Peter 5:7 NIV
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.
When Adam Kuehnel visited with her, well it was .
Psalm 23:1–2 NIV
The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
My wife Jayne was sure, as was I that Romans chapter 8 was her favorite chapter in the whole Bible. Lucielle loved the word of God. No matter where you turned in God’s word, Lucielle would say, “Isn’t that wonderful”. She loved every passage of scripture, and Lucielle loved Jesus. Lucielle loved Jesus so much that she was saturated with his word.
Tom sent me something said by man Stephen Olford. And I am so glad you did because it describes Lucielle wonderfully.
Stephen asked why God does not take us straight home to heaven the moment we accept Jesus. He answered with .
Romans 8:29 NIV
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
God keeps us here on a twofold mission. One to become more like Christ and secondly to help others along the path to also be like Christ. When I read that, I realized that summed up Lucielle’s life exactly. Lucielle lived that twofold mission perfectly.
God keeps us here on a twofold mission. One to become more like Christ and secondly to help others along the path to also be like Christ. When I read that, I thought that was Lucielle. That fit her life perfectly.
Romans 8:29 NIV
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
Lucielle was being conformed to the Christ. This was so evident to everyone who met her. Lucielle, many years ago, placed her faith in Jesus Christ. She trusted with a deep personal trust that Jesus died on the cross for her sins, in her place, and she believed that Jesus rose from the dead three days later. And when she first did that those many years ago she began to become transformed into the image of Christ.
As it says in Romans 12
Romans 12:1–2 NIV
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
SO, after those many years of offering herself as a living sacrifice to God, spending time with him in prayer, spending time in His word, she was being transformed. Her mind was being renewed as she was being transformed.
Romans 12:2 NIV
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:1–2 NIV

Lucielle placed her faith in Jesus many years ago
And you could see that whenever you were with Lucielle. You could see it because it did not take long for the conversation to turn to Christ. She would say how blessed she was, she would speak of thankfulness. She was never complaining, even when her health was failing, and you could tell her body was fading, Lucielle’s faith just seemed to get stronger.
You could see as she talked about Jesus that, there was this deep assurance in her faith. She had this deep assurance because she held the word of God so tightly in heart. This allowed you to see Christ in Lucielle every time you were with her. It was because her assurance was based not on the things of the world, not in anything in this world her assurance was in the things of God. Perhaps she liked Romans chapter 8 verse 38 and 39.
Everyone she met Lucielle came to Christ roughly
Romans 8:38–39 NIV
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:38–39 NIV
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
And seeing Lucielle being conformed to Christ’s image was exactly what everyone needed to helped along on our path toward Christ.
doesn’t Lucielle saturated in the Word God, became more so much like Christ that
Lucielle loved the word of God. No matter where you turned in God’s word, Lucielle would say, “Isn’t that wonderful”. She loved every passage of scripture. Lucielle loved Jesus
Tom
Lucielle always had a word of encouragement, for us. After every message, after every coffee hour, after every worship service, she told people what a blessing their service was.
Maybe it was that Lucielle had in mind?
Hebrews 3:13 NIV
But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.
It really could have been any number of passages it doesn’t matter which exact one it was, She always helped people on their path toward Christ. Were you having a bad day, talk to Lucielle for a few minutes, and she would lift you up.
Even her small talk would point to God. Was it raining? Lucielle would say isn’t a blessing that God sends rain on everyone. I asked about some pictures of flowers on her wall. And she said aren’t they wonderful, my granddaughter made them. God has given her talent, she would say, then isn’t nature magnificent? God is so wonderful with his creation.
Many people heard a different verse when they talked with Lucielle, but when they left, they came away knowing they had heard her favorite passage. She was simply leading people down a path closer to Christ. When we were with Lucielle and talking about the Word of God, we were encountered the Holy Spirit living in her.
I started with each of us
1 Corinthians 2:13 NIV
This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.
When we were with Lucielle and talking about the Word of God, we were encountered the Holy Spirit living in her.
All of us can be thankful that we knew Lucielle. We had an opportunity to see her being conformed to the image of Christ, and we had the pleasure of being led closer to Christ by her. And if the story ended there it would still be wonderful, but it doesn’t. And because the story doesn’t end there it is beyond wonderful.
It is beyond wonderful because Lucielle had a steadfast faith in the Lord Jesus Christ we can be assured that she is with her Lord and Savior in paradise. We know that she
We are sad. We will miss her, and for a long time their will be pain, but we can still have joy. We can have joy knowing that Lucielle is finally in the presence of her savior where she longed to be, and that is wonderful indeed.
Brothers and Sisters, if you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, continue to live saturated in his word, and steadfast in faith. Continue to be conformed to the image of Christ, and help everyone you meet to know Jesus more.
And if you don’t know a faith like that, today seek after Christ. Pray, and ask him to forgive you of your sins, trust that He died on the cross in your place, and rose from the dead three days later. Read his word, and be transformed into His likeness.
In Jesus Name .
