Judgmental Rebuke or Humbly Redemptive Confrontation?

BIG IDEA: Graceless church-goers are destructive because they withhold what they (LIKELY) have not freely received.

  • A judgmental person is harsh, sinful and unwise. Vs. 1-2
    • Judgmental people underestimate grace.
    • Judgmental people unwisely bring the judgment of the Holy God upon themselves.
  • A judgmental heart is hypocritical. Vs. 3-5
    • Judgmental people focus on the sin of others & not their own.
    • Repentance removes a judgmental spirit and allows faithful ministry to take place.
  • Personal holiness requires wise & redemptive confrontation. V.6
    • It is relationally dangerous to confront vengeful people alone.
    • It's ministerially difficult to challenge, confront, & disciple people who are willfully in sin.
  • Love God and love others.
    • Treat others as you want to be treated.
    • Realizing the gate is narrow, replaces a judgmental spirit with a grateful spirit.
