I will do a new thing
I will do a new thing
Isa 43:18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.
Isa 43:19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.
God is telling the israelites not to get hung up on the past,
Don’t get stuck in the way things have always been done
So great and wonderful shall be God’s future Divine interventions on your behalf,
that what he has done, in the past , great as that was, shall be comparatively forgotten.
What you are experiencing right now is not necessarily where God is taking you next.
Your now may be real—but it isn’t final.
There is a real danger in judging your entire future by your present circumstances.
We look at where we are and assume:
“This is how it’s always going to be.”
But the Bible is filled with people whose now looked nothing like their next.
David’s now was a shepherd’s field.
David’s now was a shepherd’s field.
He was just a shepherd boy, overlooked even by his own father.
When the prophet Samuel came to anoint one of Jesse’s sons, David wasn’t even invited to the meeting.
He was watching sheep while his brothers stood before the prophet.
His brothers mocked him when he dared to believe God could defeat Goliath.
But David had already learned something in the wilderness. Before he ever stood before Goliath, he had stood before bears and lions. God was preparing him in places nobody saw.
David’s field was not his final destination.
The shepherd became a warrior.
The warrior became a fugitive.
The fugitive became a king.
God was developing David when nobody was applauding.
Your wilderness may be preparing you for your throne.
Your hidden battles may be preparing you for your public victory. Don't despise your now. God is using it to prepare you for your next.
Moses’ now was the backside of a desert.
Moses’ now was the backside of a desert.
He had gone from the palace of Egypt to the backside of the desert, spending forty years tending sheep.
He probably wondered if his greatest days were behind him.
But God was not finished. The wilderness wasn’t Moses’ punishment—it was his preparation.
God was shaping the man who would confront Pharaoh and lead Israel out of bondage.
When God called him from the burning bush, Moses discovered that his past did not disqualify him from God’s future.
The backside of the desert became the birthplace of his calling. Your wilderness may be preparing you for your next.
Peter’s now was a fisherman.
Peter’s now was a fisherman.
His next was preaching to thousands.
Paul’s now was persecuting the church.
Paul’s now was persecuting the church.
His next was preaching the Gospel around the world.
Your now is not your next!
Somebody may be looking at your life and only seeing what you are.
But God sees what you are becoming.
People see your present.
God sees your potential.
People see your history.
God sees your destiny.
And sometimes the enemy wants you to believe:
“Because this is what I’m experiencing now, this must be what my life will always be.”
But Isaiah says:
“Behold, I will do a new thing.”
1. YOUR NOW DOESN’T DEFINE YOU
1. YOUR NOW DOESN’T DEFINE YOU
Judges 6:12
Judges 6:12
When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon:
Gideon’s “now” was hiding in a winepress, threshing wheat because he was afraid of the Midianites.
He saw himself as the least in his family, and his family as the weakest in Manasseh.
But God saw something Gideon could not yet see. “The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour.”
Gideon saw weakness; God saw a warrior.
Gideon saw hiding; God saw calling.
Gideon saw his present; God saw his future.
God took a fearful man hiding in a winepress and turned him into the leader of an army that defeated the Midianites with only 300 men.
His winepress was not his destination. It was the place where God revealed who he could become.
Never let your present circumstances define what God can do with your future. Your now is not your next.
Here’s the point:
Here’s the point:
Your present condition doesn’t have authority over God’s future purpose.
Don’t let what you’re going through tell you who you are.
Your now is not your identity.
Joseph’s now was a pit.
Joseph’s now was a pit.
Imagine how Joseph must have felt when his own brothers threw him into a pit and sold him into slavery.
He had a dream from God, yet everything around him seemed to contradict that dream.
In Potiphar’s house, he served faithfully, only to be falsely accused and thrown into prison.
Then,Joseph was forgotten. How do you keep trusting God when you’re doing everything right and everything keeps going wrong?
Joseph could have become bitter.
He could have decided that God had forgotten him.
But somewhere between the pit and the prison, Joseph learned to trust the One who had given him the dream.
His prison was not his destination.
His betrayal was not his ending. His delay was not his denial.
One day, God took Joseph from the prison to the palace. The boy with the dream became the man with the authority to save nations.
Joseph later said to his brothers “Ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good.” — Genesis 50:20.
Your now may be painful, confusing, or disappointing—but God is still writing. Don't judge the story by the chapter you're living. Your now is not your next.
2. YOUR NOW DOESN’T CANCEL GOD’S PROMISE
2. YOUR NOW DOESN’T CANCEL GOD’S PROMISE
Genesis 37 — Joseph
Genesis 37 — Joseph
Joseph received a dream from God.
God showed him his future.
But then Joseph went into a pit.
Think about that.
He had a promise—but he was in a pit.
He had a dream—but he was sold into slavery.
He had a word from God—but he ended up in prison.
And here’s what I love about Joseph:
His circumstances changed, but God’s promise didn’t.
The pit didn’t cancel the dream.
The slavery didn’t cancel the dream.
The false accusation didn’t cancel the dream.
The prison didn’t cancel the dream.
The dream survived the pit.
Somebody needs to hear this:
Your circumstances don’t have the final word.
You may be in a difficult season.
You may not understand what God is doing.
You may have prayed and nothing seems to be changing.
But silence doesn’t mean God has stopped working.
Genesis 50:20
Genesis 50:20
Joseph eventually tells his brothers:
“Ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good.”
What looked like destruction was actually part of God’s development.
The pit wasn’t the end.
It was part of the journey to the palace.
And sometimes God won’t show you the palace while you’re in the pit because if you knew everything you were going to have to walk through, you might not start the journey.
But God says:
“Trust Me with your next.”
3. YOUR NOW MAY BE PREPARING YOU FOR YOUR NEXT
3. YOUR NOW MAY BE PREPARING YOU FOR YOUR NEXT
David — 1 Samuel 17
David — 1 Samuel 17
David wasn’t standing in a palace when God prepared him to fight Goliath.
He was in a field.
Taking care of sheep.
Nobody was watching.
Nobody was applauding.
But David had already fought a lion.
He had already fought a bear.
The private battles were preparing him for the public battle.
And I want to tell somebody:
Don’t despise your small season.
Don’t despise the place where nobody knows your name.
Don’t despise the season where you’re learning.
Don’t despise the season where you’re being stretched.
Don’t despise the season where God is developing your character.
Because your now may be preparation for your next.
You may be asking:
“God, why am I going through this?”
And God may be saying:
“Because I’m preparing you for what you prayed for.”
David’s shepherd experience became his preparation for his king experience.
Sometimes the wilderness is a classroom.
Sometimes the wilderness is a classroom.
Sometimes the struggle is training.
Sometimes the delay is development.
God is preparing you for something you haven’t seen yet.
Here’s the message:
Here’s the message:
Don’t allow your now to make you quit believing God for your next.
The doctor may have the report.
The bank may have the numbers.
People may have their opinions.
Your circumstances may look impossible.
But Jesus still gets the final word.
4. GOD IS ALREADY WORKING ON YOUR NEXT
4. GOD IS ALREADY WORKING ON YOUR NEXT
Go back to Isaiah 43:19.
“Behold, I will do a new thing.”
God says:
I WILL.
Not:
“I might.”
Not:
“Maybe.”
Not:
“I used to.”
“I will.”
Then He says:
“Now it shall spring forth.”
That means something is happening before you can see it.
A seed can be underground and still be growing.
You can’t see it.
You can’t hear it.
You can’t measure it.
But something is happening beneath the surface.
And somebody here may feel like:
“Nothing is happening.”
But you don’t know what God is doing beneath the surface.
You can’t see the roots.
You can’t see the preparation.
You can’t see the doors God is arranging.
You can’t see the people He’s preparing.
You can’t see the opportunities He’s setting up.
You can’t see the miracle yet.
But God is working.
Then Isaiah says:
Then Isaiah says:
“I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”
God specializes in making a way where there isn’t one.
Wilderness? He makes a way.
Desert? He brings water.
Dead situation? He brings life.
Impossible circumstance? He makes a way.

Church, I believe what we are seeing right now on Huahine is not the end of the story—it is the preparation for what God is about to do next.
You have been praying for revival. You have been investing in people. You have been pouring yourselves into lives. You have been going into the streets, preaching the Gospel, reaching the lost, and exhausting your resources to evangelize. You have worked when it was difficult. You have believed when you could not yet see the harvest.
But your now is not your next.
There is a principle throughout Scripture: before the harvest comes preparation. Before the breakthrough comes obedience. Before the increase comes faithfulness.
A farmer doesn't plant a seed and expect a harvest the same day. He plants, waters, works, waits—and then comes the harvest.
I believe the prayers you've prayed have not disappeared. The seeds you've planted have not been wasted. The people you've reached have not been forgotten. The sacrifices you've made have not gone unnoticed by God.
You are preparing for something you have not yet seen.
The next season may look different. The doors may open wider. The people you have been praying for may begin walking through those doors. Souls may be saved. Families may be restored. Lives may be transformed.
So don't become weary in doing well.
Galatians 6:9: “In due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”
Church, keep praying. Keep planting. Keep reaching. Keep believing.
Because this is your now—but it is not your next.
The harvest is coming. 🔥
🔥 CLOSING
🔥 CLOSING
Maybe your now is painful.
But your now isn’t your next.
Maybe you’re discouraged.
But your discouragement isn’t your destiny.
Maybe you’ve failed.
But failure isn’t your future.
Maybe you’ve been rejected.
But rejection doesn’t determine your worth.
Maybe you’ve been waiting.
But waiting doesn’t mean God has forgotten you.
Maybe you’re in a wilderness.
But wilderness isn’t your destination.
Joseph had a pit.
David had a field.
Moses had a desert.
Gideon had fear.
But God had a next.
And God has a next for you.
🔥 ALTAR CALL
🔥 ALTAR CALL
I would slow down here.
Say:
“I don’t know what your now looks like.”
Maybe you’re in a financial crisis now.
Maybe you’re in a family is in chaos now.
Maybe you’re in a ministry now.
Maybe you’re in a spiritual empty now.
Maybe you’re in a season where you’re saying:
“God, I don’t understand.”
But I’m here to tell you:
YOUR NOW IS NOT YOUR NEXT!
YOUR NOW IS NOT YOUR NEXT!
Your story isn’t finished.
God isn’t finished.
The promise isn’t finished.
The calling isn’t finished.
The purpose isn’t finished.
There is still a next.
And maybe you don’t need God to change everything today.
Maybe you simply need enough faith to say:
“God, I trust You with my next.”
Because here’s the declaration:
“I may be in my NOW, but I’m not staying in my NOW!”
“I may be in my NOW, but I’m not staying in my NOW!”
I’m moving forward.
I’m believing again.
I’m praying again.
I’m dreaming again.
I’m trusting again.
I’m expecting again.
Because:
🔥 MY NOW IS NOT MY NEXT!
🔥 MY NOW IS NOT MY NEXT!
And if God said:
“I will do a new thing…”
Then I’m going to believe Him until I see it.
Amen!
