Bride of Christ

Ephesians 5:22–23 ESV
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
Men have troubles relating
Men have troubles relating
Jeremiah 6:2 ESV
The lovely and delicately bred I will destroy, the daughter of Zion.
Bride is Church
Fallen Church is Harlot
We can get so routine of doing —> BE
church is gathering or assembly
What does that look like?
Minister to God
Not a concert for us but for God
Magnify His Name
2. Minister to others
preaching —> God speaks
3. Minister to World
Gather then scatter
WHATEVER WE AVOID THE ENEMY WILL INVADE
Metaphore: Body/family; building; BRIDE
Fact: If you love me, you should like my wife
can’t love Jesus and hate the church
Christian withou church — WHY NOT?
BORING: NO YOU ARE...
Hypocrits: yes but that’s why we need a Savior
Paul do what I don’t want
don’t do what I want
NEEDS A SAVIOR
God gives grace
Part of the family
Why the BRIDE?
Intimacy
God wants this with us
real intimacy - trust
Fact: I love you and Megan differently
God wants a different kind of love that can only be had between a bride and a groom
When we date we provide an imitation of self
Marriage is real
God loves the real you- not just your church version
Intimacy
Protection
Ephesians 5:22–23 ESV
Wives, submit to your own husbands, as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife even as Christ is the head of the church, his body, and is himself its Savior.
Ephesians 5:24–25 ESV
Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit in everything to their husbands. Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her,
Ephesians
Ephesians 5:
In marriage I would say girls you should stive to be worth dying for
Me you should live lives worth submitting to
I’m not a fighter BUT
if you mess with my wife
I would die if I had to
Jesus stood in the GAP for you
How do I know that He will do it for you?
He already did!
Protected you with grace
Ever see a couple not paired
out of his league
That’s us & Jesus b/c of GRACE
Ephesians 5:25–27 ESV
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
Ephesians 5:
Ephesians 5:32 ESV
This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church.

Rights
Megan with my Name: rights
She is associated with me and the Lyon name
access to my bank account
key to my house, car,
barn
In the same way we have the rights given to us by the Name of Jesus
we are called to be good stewards of what has been given to us by God
1 Peter 2:9–10 ESV
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
1 Peter 2:9-
We had nothing when we came in to this BUT now we are called the BRIDE of Christ!
1 Peter 2:11–12 ESV
Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
1 Peter 2:11-12
1 Peter 2:15–17 ESV
For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people. Live as people who are free, not using your freedom as a cover-up for evil, but living as servants of God. Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor.
1 Peter 2:
b/c of the rights given He has become our provider
He owns the cattle on a thousand hills
He has power of death, hell & grave
He has overcome sin
