(1) Community
“Theology is best done in community”
>> MAJOR theme of this Program
“Make a commitment here at the very beginning of this program that you’ll celebrate and build up the people going through this with you. When you see others growing in their love and knowledge of God, acknowledge and be grateful for what God is doing in their life. As you learn deep theological truths, you will grow in deeper love for God and each other resulting in a stronger, more unified church.”
— Deep Discipleship, page 12
(2) Love
Finding the Right Hills to Die On by Gavin Ortlund (Page 19):
First-rank doctrines are essential to the gospel itself.
Second-rank doctrines are urgent for the health and practice of the Church such that they frequently cause Christians to separate at the level of local church, denomination, and/or ministry.
Third-rank doctrines are important to Christian theology, but not enough to justify separation or division among Christians.
Fourth-rank doctrines are unimportant to our gospel witness and ministry collaboration.
Christian Charity in disagreement is where love of neighbor truly shines
(3) Service
James Teaches us that famous line:
“Faith without works is dead”
The fruit of DDP should not be snobbery, apathy toward those in need, or a sense of total inadequacy or insecurity
Remember the 4 Ds:
Drama
Doctrine
Doxology
Discipleship
22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

Expectations
Expectations
Some “housekeeping” before we start:
“You get out of it what you put into it”
>> PHONES: Put the phones away as much as you can for your sake AND those around you.
>> STAY ON TOPIC: Keep on topic during our allotted time together
>> Save those great theological rabbit hole topics for a coffee date
>> FAMILIES: Have grace for those with kiddos or other needs
>> TIME MX: Show up on time, prepare to leave on time
>> Some need to start early due to leaving early or promptly, so, be considerate of them and show up on time
>> Some will be staying to lock up the building, they don’t want to be waiting around for a group inconsiderate of their evening
>> COMMUNICATION: Slack for Big Group, Text or whatever for your specific groups
>> Inner group accountability, wins, questions… Culture STILL applies here!
>> If you have someone who wants to join late, it needs to be communicated to me
>> Prefer folks not join too late…
