Intro-

Jeremiah 1:4–10 “Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.” Then I said, “Ah, Lord God! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak. Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the Lord.” Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth. See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.””

Point 1: We are CALLED. vs 4-5

God formed you.
He has a plan for your future.
Background:
Jeremiah was appointed as a prophet before he was ever born.
Meaning that God knew exactly the details of his life, before anyone would know that they mattered. When Jerry was still in cloth diapers. When he was a little terror toddler and wouldnt listen to Jeremiah Sr. God KNEW Jerry.
Apply:
God gave him his calling.
God knows everything about us, before we were born. If God knows you… He knows the good, the bad, the ugly. He knows if you have been diagnosed with a disease that jacks up your world. He knows that your parents are going through a divorce. He knows that you would be broken by that person you were dating, and you felt all alone. Yet…
He has appointed you to make Him known.

Point 2: Stop the excuses or Don’t reject God’s call. vs 6-7

English Standard Version Jeremiah 1:6–7

Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.” But the LORD said to me,

“Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’;

for to all to whom I send you, you shall go,

and whatever I command you, you shall speak.

Jerry made excuses. I don’t know how to speak Lord. I am just a youth. (Hey thats you students. YOU are only a youth. vs 6
THe Lord tells him, clearly, DO NOT say I am ONLY a youth. Why? God sends you. He commands us to go! Whatever God tells him, and us to do, we must do.
Apply: We too make excuses. The call to follow God I believe may seem ridiculous to some.
Things to know that will affect YOU:
Jeremiah was still a youth vs 6
WE ARE AMBASSADORS. (Stay there)
The ESV Study Bible Chapter 1

1:7 God reassures Jeremiah by telling him he is God’s ambassador. Jeremiah will go where God sends and say what God commands. He belongs to God; he has no other master, and there is no one else he should seek to please. vs 7

Bryce Crawford and Howie Mandell… To the world it may seem crazy… but truly believe that it does not matter what you believe as long as you are good.
The truth is Jesus.

Point 3: Fear does not have to stop us! vs 8-10

English Standard Version Jeremiah 1:8–10

Do not be afraid of them,

for I am with you to deliver you,

declares the LORD.”

Then the LORD put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me,

“Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.

See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms,

to pluck up and to break down,

to destroy and to overthrow,

to build and to plant.”

The ESV Study Bible Chapter 1

1:8

1:9 Jeremiahs mouth is set apart. God is Sovereign. He has a plan here.
Jerry don’t be scared. Why? God is with you! He is with you to deliver you. Meaning He will get you where you need to go for Him. (I think) vs 8
The Lord provides the words. We have the responsibility to say yes. Will you?!
vs 10 God has in His divine plan orchastrated your life, and is calling you to make Him known to change the nations! vs 9 He puts His hand on us. TRUST HIM.
God has orchastrated our lives.
Therefore because of who He is, because of who I am, I must say yes to Jesus! We ALL are called to make much of Jesus name!
Simply we must put our yes on the table.
