Exodus 3:19–22 (CSB)
God knows the resistance ahead, overcomes it by His own hand, and sends His people out not empty-handed.
Exodus 3:19
I. God Knows the Resistance
— Pharaoh’s refusal never surprises God.“However, I know”
— the oppressor will not surrender control willingly.“Will not allow you”
— release will require power beyond Moses.“Strong hand”
God tells Moses the hard road before he walks it.
Bridge: Resistance does not cancel God’s promise; it prepares us to see whose hand must save.
Exodus 3:20
II. God Acts With Power
— God’s hand, not human hustle, brings deliverance.“Stretch out my hand”
— God judges the power enslaving His people.“Strike Egypt”
— His wonders display power Egypt cannot ignore.“All my miracles”
— Pharaoh yields because God intervenes.“After that”
Bridge: God does not merely bring His people out; He sees that they do not leave empty-handed.
Exodus 3:21–22
III. God Gives Favor
— even Egyptian goodwill is under God’s hand.“I will give … favor”
— slaves leave clothed and materially provided for.“Not … empty-handed”
— they receive the goods; they do not steal them.“Each woman will ask”
— God sends them out like victors, fulfilling His old promise.“You will plunder”
Bridge: The God who knew their bondage, won their freedom, and filled their hands is worthy of our trust—and His greater rescue comes to us in Christ.
