Saved from What? Why? And How?
Saved from What? Why? And How?
Why is Jesus the only way?
Is God blood thirty and needs blood to be satisfied?
Why is God so angry and Jesus so loving?
Saved from what?
Sin. What is sin?
Sin. What is sin?
Adam and Eve & the tree - Idolatry
Gen 1&2 perfect 2 trees
Genesis 3:4–7 “4 “You won’t die!” the serpent replied to the woman. 5 “God knows that your eyes will be opened as soon as you eat it, and you will be like God, knowing both good and evil.” 6 The woman was convinced. She saw that the tree was beautiful and its fruit looked delicious, and she wanted the wisdom it would give her. So she took some of the fruit and ate it. Then she gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it, too. 7 At that moment their eyes were opened, and they suddenly felt shame at their nakedness. So they sewed fig leaves together to cover themselves.”
We don’t know what to do? Especially with those we love who are close to us.
Someone in Sin
This inversion is the root of all sin “Idolatry”
Making something more important than God.
Money - loose family
Sex - loose health looking good
Power - becoming slave to maintain power
Nothing wrong with God’s way of sex, money, & power
All we know is destructive patterns of sin
Gen 4 Cain kills able
God is saving us from our destructive ways.
Now God is working to get us back “with the power to choice”
God picks a person to be in a relationship with him that God promises to never give up on him and his family.
This family makes bad decisions at almost every turn.
God tries to ready their hearts so they begin to understand that what they do matter but its God’s love that saves them.
How are we saved - Jesus (The Cross of Love)
How are we saved - Jesus (The Cross of Love)
Jesus
Jesus
Jesus fully God and Human - Born of a virgin
A leap of faith - but not a blind one - Abraham couldn’t have kids…
Jesus gives his life!
Jesus gives his life!
John 10:17–18 “17 “The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. 18 No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.”
John 19:31–37 “31 It was the day of preparation, and the Jewish leaders didn’t want the bodies hanging there the next day, which was the Sabbath (and a very special Sabbath, because it was Passover week). So they asked Pilate to hasten their deaths by ordering that their legs be broken. Then their bodies could be taken down. 32 So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the two men crucified with Jesus. 33 But when they came to Jesus, they saw that he was already dead, so they didn’t break his legs. 34 One of the soldiers, however, pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water flowed out. 35 (This report is from an eyewitness giving an accurate account. He speaks the truth so that you also may continue to believe.) 36 These things happened in fulfillment of the Scriptures that say, “Not one of his bones will be broken,” 37 and “They will look on the one they pierced.””
Is God bloodthirsty and needs blood?
Hebrews 9:22 “22 In fact, according to the law of Moses, nearly everything was purified with blood. For without the shedding of blood, there is no forgiveness.”
Abel’s blood - all instant people who have been wounded. There needs to be justice.
Romans 5:8 “8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.”
So which is it blood or love? - YES!
God does get angry with people when we hurt our selves and others
He wants to bring justice - ABLE
He Loves everyone involved
One kid accidentally hurting. Then the hurt kid intentionally hurting the other.
Your ability to understand relationships (whoever well) is a gift from God.
God doesn’t want blood to be happy. He is willing give his own blood to show He is willing to give everything to be in relationship with you and humanity.
How do we know that Jesus saves us?
How do we know that Jesus saves us?
John 20:19–20 “19 That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! “Peace be with you,” he said. 20 As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord!”
It takes Faith (not blind faith) to follow Jesus
My grand parents and great grand parents finding and following Jesus
Calmness that everything is going to be ok
It takes Hope that someday doing things his way will pay off
Jesus giving his life and still having scars in Heaven is why love is the only thing that remains.
Jesus giving his life and still having scars in Heaven is why love is the only thing that remains.
Love last longer, endures more and faith and hope. 1 Cor 13
This is why Jesus is the only way!
Love to lay down his life
Rise for the dead

How do we know this is true?
How do we know this is true?
We feel it (Holy Spirit)

We have to accept it.
