Body: Peter is one of the twelve, he is the spokesperson for the disciples, he is among James and John as being in Jesus’ inner 3 circle. He is the one who Christ said he would build his church on according to Matthew 16:18. Peter is the one who cut off malchus’ ear off when Jesus was arrested. Peter was there for when Jesus was transfigured, with nearly all the healings and miracles Jesus performed. Jesus knew Peter extremely well.
Peter is around a fire below where Jesus is being questioned, spit on, slapped, and more after he had told them who he was and what was going to happen. Peter is in a courtyard around a fire trying to warm himself up. Then a servant girl of the high priest sees him and says you were with Jesus the nazarene. There was probably something that would’ve distinguished this but it is not very clear as to how she could tell he was galilean. We do know that it was most likely an accent so if peter was talking then they would’ve been able to tell. The girl pointed out something that was true and Peter lied and denied the truth. In him denying the truth he also literally denied knowing the one who said “I am the way, the truth, and the life” So everything that Peter and Jesus had been together with up to this point peter said “I neither know nor understand what you are talking about” then he denied it again, then the bystanders said surely you are one of them for you are a galilean too” and then Peter began to curse and swear saying I do not know this man you are talking about. We know from other Gospels he said “

Conclusion:
Conclusion:
Would you rather be with Jesus or with the crowd?
What should be our response to our sin? What does that look like for you?
When was the last time you were broken over your sin?
How can you be encouraged after you have responded to sin correctly?
