God's word still works

This chapter tells the story of the Israelites they travel through the dessert on their way to the promise land. Be satisfied

What we learn from this chapter is to satisfied with God.

We learn that we should be faithful, no matter the situation.

we learn that God’s word still works.We find that although God has provided freedom from slavery the Israelite people are not satisfied.

Reading this chapter we find that even though God has made a high way through the Red Sea these Israelites are not satisfied.

We find that even though this God has provided water from a rock, and manna from heaven these Israelites are not satisfied.

When we first here of manna it taste like honey, here the Israelites have begun to beat it ,ground it, and baked it but it tasted like oil.

It is not what God provides, for he is a provider but it is our appetite to want something different.

We also are never satisfied.

God gives us one thing but we want more.

Some folks try to improve the blessing.

I have seen it before, we are lonely and ask God for someone in our life, yet do we really want companionship, or do we want prince charming, we probably pass on the person who would love us the most, treat us the best , or love us unquestionably for better or worse, because we want standards set by somebody else not set by God.

We always want to look past our blessing, look I am not saying that you should buy the first car , move into the first house, or choose the first person, but i am saying stop looking at your blessing to be what you want it to be ,and let your blessing be what God wants you to have. Sometimes you have to eat manna instead of delicasies because that what God has provided.

Maybe it is peanut butter instead of steak.

Another thing scripture says mixed multitude, the NIV calls them trouble makers, and the New Century call them rabble rousers.

These people started talking about Egypt, and the things they had in Egypt, meat fish, cucumbers. and how they wanted meat.

These people were allowed to talk and eventually they convinced the Israelites to there way of thinking. They same sort of stuff happens today. Lack of faith is contagious. It spreads like wildfire.

You get blessed, and you think that it is fine, but somebody else start comparing what you have with what somebody else has and suddenly your blessing is no longer good enough for you.

You are happy that you received a diamond ring, till somebody tells you that it is only a diamond chip and it is cheap. Then your blessing is not good enough. The gift is a symbol of love, not how much debt a person can get into. We go about this all wrong.

The rabble rousers, mixed multitude or trouble makers, you call them what you want, but they start stuff. Even today we have those who start stuff. they complain about anything and everything. You know them because they never call on something good, never call on a positive thing, but there is always “a but” or a “you know”. They are the ones who start the rumors, they are the ones who won’t let it go, they are the ones who keep stuff going even after it is no longer important relevant or needed. Watch out for those type of people, who want you to reject your blessing!

God will not abandon you.

We find that Moses is frustrated. he has done everything that God has asked him to do.

he left his wife and job

went back to Egypt

traveled to Egypt

faced down Pharoah

freed the people

performed miracles

and still it is not enough for some folks.

We go through this Christian walk and sometimes we get frustrated. You know you try to live right. You go about this Christian life trying to do the right thing! You attend church, pay your money, pray and still things seem to go wrong. You begin to doubt yourself and then even worse you begin to doubt God. If i have just described you I am not picking, and I am not talking about you but if that is you, you are in some good company, because Moses did the same thing.

When the folk started yanging him, demanding meat, he just got sick and tired of being sick and tired. And said God just kill me now, because I can not bear this burden by myself. God told Moses to pick 70 elders, and God placed the spirit of Moses on this 70. These 70 were appointed to help shoulder the responsibility that Moses carried. This 70 were appointed to be stress relief to Moses. God didn’t want Moses to bear the burden alone.

I want you to know that the God that I serve does not want you to bear this burden by yourself. Like he was with Moses he will be with you. Jesus said in this world you will have trouble but do not fear I have overcome the world. Ask somebody how they made it through , and then somebdy tell somebody that Jesus is a burden bearer, and how he brought you through. For if he did it for somebody else he can do it for you.

You see somebody here is going through , you don’t have to raise your hand , you don’t stand up, but somebody here is going through and in the name of Jesus we pray that they be delivered!

In the name of Jesus we pray that they be set free!

In the name of Jesus we prey yokes be broken!

Saints remember yout testimony maybe the testimony that sets somebody free.

The word still works

And while i do not have a problem with Moses getting depressed

I do not have a problem with Moses asking God to free him or even to take his life.

Moses was so far gone that he hada crisis of faith, he was so distraught that he forgot that God was God.

you know the buzz words , and if somebody tells you one more time that he may not come when you want him, but he always right on time , you might just punch them in their face.

He questioned God’s word.

He questions God ability to deliver.

And again there may be somebody here who has reached that state, that you know what the word says ,you know the buzz words , and if somebody tells you one more time that he may not come when you want him, but he always right on time , you might just punch them in their face.

You are in need and you are in need right now. So you began to doubt that God can do what the word says he can do.

Moses tells God, the people want meat, flesh, and you say you will give them flesh, not only for a day but for a month. I have 600,000 men and you going to feed all of them flesh for a month. Come on God be serious, what are we going to slaughter all of livestock, or are you going to empty the sea of fish.

Moses doubts God. and the reason Moses doubts God is because he fails to look what God has done.

he fails to see what God had previously done and that he had been the instrument in much of that deliverance.

We talked about this syndrome in Bible study two weeks ago. I pointed out that we never look back at the past storms that God has brought us out of, as proof that he can do it , we merely concentrate on the new storm and that we can not see our way out of it.

This past storm, may not be the same or similar storm to the storm you are now in, but at the time, it was the storm to end all storms. You were at your wit’s end, and did not know how you were going to make it, but somehow , someway you made it through. And here you are again going through again. And instead of thinking I know he will because he has done it before, you are saying how am I going to make it.

Moses was able to see that the word works for Scripture says the next day Quail began flying low right next to the camp. And the folk went crazy, they had yard all the yard bird they wanted. Everybody was had chicken. It was Bojangles, Skillet and KFC just started giving away chicken.

So God made good on his word!

I want to tell you the word still works, and God still makes good on his word , for he is still able.

If he said it he is able to make it happen, it will happen. The word still works.

Somebody said it like this “he brought me through this, and he brought me through that”.

I need to know does anybody here know that the word still works.

When Moses doubted God, God merely answered , Has my arm suddenly grown short, have I lost my Power.

Do you not know?

Have you not heard? God the creator does not grow tired.

For he gives power to the faint and he increases strenght of those who have no might.

Even youths shall faint and be weary but to them they wait upon the Lord shall renew their strenght they shall mount up like Eagles they shall run and not be weary.

They shall walk and not faint.

God’s arm has not been shortened, nor has he lost power. God is able and the word still works.

Didn’t I make the world,

watch and see

I am able .

don’t doubt me the word still works.

it was the word that created the heavens and the earth, and the word still works

it was the word that created light,

and the word still works!

It was the word that put the sun and stars in the sky, and the word still works!

It was the word that became flesh

and the word still works

it was the word that healed the centurion son , when he said speak but the word and my son shall be healed and the word still works.

it was the word that Jesus spoke when he told the paralysed man, pick up your bed and walk , and you know what the word still works.

It was the word that said destroy this temple and in three days I shall build it up again and you know what the word still works.

It was the word that was crucified , died and was buried and on the third day rose again and the word still works.

Seek him when he can be found

Call him while he is near

Let the wicked forsake their ways,

and the unrighteous change their thoughts,

for my God will have mercy.

For his thoughts are not our thoughts and his ways are not our ways

For as the heavens are higher than earth

his ways are higher than our ways

his thoughts are higher than our thoughts

For as the rain and the snow fall from heaven and water the earth,

and don’t return so that it may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater, his word will not return to him void,

but shall accomplish what he pleases and it shall prosper. for the word still works
