When You Come To Christ (John 1:43-49)

A Clean Slate (vs.47)

Guile - craftiness, skilled in deception.
Some would try and be dishonest with the Lord, but Nathaniel was not. He came to Jesus without lies.
Adam and Eve in the garden (Where art thou?)
Mark 5:33 “But the woman (with the issue of blood) fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth.”
Psalm 32:1–2 “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man unto whom the Lord imputeth not iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no guile.”
Revelation 14:4–5 “These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb. And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.”

A Christ That Sees

Jesus saw Nathaniel
Sees Faith
Mark 2:3–5 “And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four. And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.”
Sees Sorrow
John 11:32–35 “Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died. When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled, And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see. Jesus wept.”

A Conclusion That’s Sure

Whenever you come to Christ with a question, here’s what the conclusion will come out to...
John 1:49 “Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.”
Thou ART! ( I AM)
Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
Son of God - on the throne of the universe
King of Israel - on the throne of the world
Son of God - acknowledged his diety
King of Israel - acknowledged his destiny

A Conceiving That’s Stunning

John 1:50 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.”
SHALT SEE - future tense
When you come to Christ, the greater thing might not be seen in that instance, but there will be great things seen!
Peter in prison in Acts 12
Ephesians 3:20 “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,”
