Isaiah 65:17a (ESV) “For behold, I create new heavens
and a new earth. . .
Isaiah 65:18 (ESV) But be glad and rejoice forever in that
which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to be a joy .
..
Isaiah 66:8 (ESV) Who has heard such a thing? Who has
seen such things? Shall a land be born in one day?
Isaiah 66:12 (ESV) For thus says the LORD: “Behold, I will
extend peace to her like a river . . .
Isaiah 66:14 (ESV) You shall see . . . the hand of the
LORD shall be known to his servants, and he shall show
his indignation against his enemies.
Isaiah 66:15 (ESV) “For behold, the LORD will come in
fire,
Isaiah 66:18b (ESV) And they shall come and shall see my
glory,
Isaiah 66:19c (ESV) And from them I will send survivors to
the nations . . . that have not heard my fame or seen my
glory.
Isaiah 66:24 (ESV) “And they shall go out and look on . . .
Isaiah 40:6 (ESV) A voice says, “Cry!” And I said,
“What shall I cry?” All flesh is grass, and all its beauty
is like the flower of the field.
Isaiah 66:16 (ESV) For by fire will the LORD enter into
judgment, and by his sword, with all flesh; and those
slain by the LORD shall be many.
Isaiah 66:23 (ESV) From new moon to new moon, and
from Sabbath to Sabbath, all flesh shall come to
worship before me, declares the LORD.
Isaiah 66:24 (ESV) “And they shall go out and look on
the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled against
me. For their worm shall not die, their fire shall not be
quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to all
flesh.”
Revelation 21:1–2 (ESV)Then I saw a new heaven and
a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had
2
passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw
the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of
heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her
husband.
1 Peter 1:10–11 (ESV) Concerning this salvation, the
prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to
11
be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring
what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was
indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ
and the subsequent glories.
Isaiah 65:18-19 (ESV) But be glad and rejoice forever
in that which I create; for behold, I create Jerusalem to
19
be a joy, and her people to be a gladness. I will
rejoice in Jerusalem and be glad in my people; no
more shall be heard in it the sound of weeping and
the cry of distress.
Deuteronomy 28:30b–32 (ESV) You shall build a
house, but you shall not dwell in it. You shall plant a
32
vineyard, but you shall not enjoy its fruit. . . . Your
sons and your daughters shall be given to another
people, while your eyes look on and fail with longing
33
for them all day long, but you shall be helpless. A
nation that you have not known shall eat up the fruit
of your ground and of all your labors, and you shall
be only oppressed and crushed continually,
Deuteronomy 28:41 (ESV) You shall father sons and
daughters, but they shall not be yours, for they shall
go into captivity.
Isaiah 59:2 (ESV) but your iniquities have made a
separation between you and your God, and your sins
have hidden his face from you so that he does not
hear.
Isaiah 11:6–9 (ESV) The wolf shall dwell with the
lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the young
goat, and the calf and the lion and the fattened calf
7
together; and a little child shall lead them. The cow
and the bear shall graze; their young shall lie down
8
together; and the lion shall eat straw like the ox. The
nursing child shall play over the hole of the cobra,
and the weaned child shall put his hand on the
9
adder’s den. They shall not hurt or destroy in all
my holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the
knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea.
1 Kings 8:27 (ESV) “But will God indeed dwell on the
earth? Behold, heaven and the highest heaven cannot
contain you; how much less this house that I have built!
Isaiah 66:3a (ESV) “He who slaughters an ox is like
one who kills a man; he who sacrifices a lamb, like
one who breaks a dog’s neck; he who presents a
grain offering, like one who offers pig’s blood; he
who makes a memorial offering of frankincense, like
one who blesses an idol.
Isaiah 66:5-6 (ESV) Hear the word of the LORD, you
who tremble at his word: “Your brothers who hate
you and cast you out for my name’s sake have
said, ‘Let the LORD be glorified, that we may see
your joy’; but it is they who shall be put to shame.
6“The sound of an uproar from the city! A sound
from the temple! The sound of the LORD, rendering
recompense to his enemies!
Isaiah 66:8 (ESV) Who has heard such a thing? Who
has seen such things? Shall a land be born in one
day? Shall a nation be brought forth in one moment?
For as soon as Zion was in labor she brought forth her
children.
Isaiah 4:2–4 (ESV) In that day the branch of the LORD
shall be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the land
shall be the pride and honor of the survivors of Israel.
3And he who is left in Zion and remains in Jerusalem
will be called holy, everyone who has been recorded
4
for life in Jerusalem, when the LORD shall have
washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion and
cleansed the bloodstains of Jerusalem from its midst
by a spirit of judgment and by a spirit of burning.
Isaiah 66:10–11 (ESV) “Rejoice with Jerusalem, and
be glad for her, all you who love her; rejoice with
11
her in joy, all you who mourn over her; that you may
nurse and be satisfied from her consoling breast; that
you may drink deeply with delight from her glorious
abundance.”
Isaiah 66:14b–16 (ESV) and the hand of the LORD shall
be known to his servants, and he shall show his
15
indignation against his enemies. “For behold, the
LORD will come in fire, and his chariots like the
whirlwind, to render his anger in fury, and his rebuke
16
with flames of fire. For by fire will the LORD enter
into judgment, and by his sword, with all flesh; and
those slain by the LORD shall be many.
Isaiah 66:18b–21 (ESV) And they shall come and shall
19
see my glory, and I will set a sign among them.
And from them I will send survivors to the nations,
to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, who draw the bow, to Tubal
and Javan, to the coastlands far away, that have not
heard my fame or seen my glory. And they shall
declare my glory among the nations.
John 12:32 (ESV) And I, when I am lifted up from the
earth, will draw all people to myself.”
Isaiah 52:13 (ESV) Behold, my servant shall act
wisely; he shall be high and lifted up, and shall be
exalted.
Isaiah 53:5a (CSB) But he was pierced because of
our rebellion, crushed because of our iniquities;
Isaiah 53:8b (CSB) For he was cut off from the land
of the living; he was struck because of my people’s
rebellion.
Isaiah 53:12b (CSB) . . . .because he willingly
submitted to death, and was counted among the
rebels; yet he bore the sin of many and interceded
for the rebels.
Acts 1:8 (ESV) But you will receive power when the
Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my
witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
Isaiah 66:24 (ESV) “And they shall go out and look on
the dead bodies of the men who have rebelled
against me. For their worm shall not die, their fire shall
not be quenched, and they shall be an abhorrence to
all flesh.”
“They enjoy the day of salvation, but they do not allow
themselves to forget the day of vengeance.”

“The purpose of visiting the cemetery is . . . to register
again something loathsome . . . to be repelled and
revolted; that is to say, to see again the wages of sin
and the fruit of rebellion, and thereby to be newly
motivated to obedience and love of the word of God.”
