Let's revisit the purpose of Miracles. Why is the work of Jesus highlighted by miracles? Why were miracles an important part of Jesus ministry?
Miracles Show Jesus’ Heart of Compassion
His power always flowed from His deep love for people.
I want you to watch as we journey through these miracle of Jesus, how often we see Jesus compassion.
Also notice how the compassion of JEsus is contrasted with the lack of compassion showed by those around Jesus including Jesus followers.
That's a lesson for another day.
Miracles Display God’s Mighty Power
They proved that God's authority rules over sickness, nature, and even death.
One religion leaders said this, no man can do thing thing you do unless God be with you.
he was recognizing that Jesus power distinguished Jesus connection with God at a great level than just any man.
The power of God rested on Jesus.
Miracles Reveal Who Jesus Really.
This is them main point here.
Miracles prove that Jesus is God
Or as we have been stated that He is the Messiah, the Son of Man.
Jesus' claim to be one with God is demonstrated by his miracles. Not just his miracles, but certainly his miracles demonstrated his personhood.
But on a more personal level, The Miracles of Jesus are a reminder that he is the solution for our struggles.
What is a miracle that we have spoken about, or even that we haven't spoken about in Mark's testimony of Jesus that captures your attention? Or that stands out from the rest?
I am still blown away by the miracle of the syrophenecisn woman. This is always been one of those conversations that I questioned, but as I studied, I think it became more clear to me. And as it became more clear, it became more impactful.
As I studied one of the things that many of the scholars that I read pointed out was the fact that it seemed to be that no one understood. Jesus has clearly as this woman. That's just astonishing to think because as far as we know, this was the first encounter between the woman in Jesus. And those who follow Jesus more consistently seem to struggle to understand what Jesus was saying.
Wow, the disciples are arguing about who will be the greatest clearly this woman didn't mind being the least. And interestingly, enough, Jesus said the least are the greatest.
As we have been studying Mark's record of the miracles of Jesus, What is one lesson that you were learning from the miracles?
For me, one of the things it stands out is how many of the miracles happen to people that are not really connected to Jesus. They don't really happen to the religious lead, in fact, many of them happen to people whom this is their first encounter with Jesus. It just reminds me of Jesus accepting nature of people. He didn't reserve his power for those who are closest to them or for those who are living the way, but that was commanded in the Law. In fact, in some cases, it was those who were contrary to Jesus, who are not living the life the Bible Prescribes. Jesus doesn't seem to be offended at all by those who reach out to him, in fact, he often highlights the faith of those who reach out to him in spite of their lifestyle, not quite aligning with him.
I think there's a powerful message in that and I hope it's one that we have communicated over and over again. Too often, the followers of Jesus are more interested in pointing out the wrong that people have going on in their lives instead of seeking to bring healing to their heart.
We cannot bring healing to anyone's heart that we are also trying to condemn.
COMMUNION: Give instructions for communion: 1 Corinthians 11:26-32 - For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come. 27 Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. 28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. 31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 32 But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world Give Time for Prayer Deliver the Elements: 1 Corinthians 11:24-25 - 24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
