Abraham and his wife Sarah desperately wanted a child, but they grew old without ever having one. God made Abraham a promise: despite their age, He would give them a son, and through that son He would build a family that would eventually become a great nation.
And God did exactly what He promised. When Abraham was 100 years old, Sarah gave birth to Isaac. Isaac wasn't simply Abraham's son—he was a living reminder that God could do what Abraham could never do for himself. God had given him life.
Then God did something Abraham couldn't understand. He told Abraham to take Isaac and offer him back to God. Abraham obeyed—not because losing Isaac didn't matter, and not because God's command made sense, but because Abraham had learned something about God. The God who had miraculously given Isaac could still be trusted with Isaac.
Hebrews tells us Abraham believed that even if Isaac died, God was powerful enough to raise him from the dead. And before Abraham sacrificed his son, God stopped him and provided a sacrifice instead.
Abraham didn't know what God was going to do. He simply knew who God was. The God who gave life could be trusted with life.

The God who gave you life is the God you can trust with your life. (Genesis 1:1-3; John 1:1-5)

Last week we talked about God’s Word and how God has given us His Word because He wants us to know Him and walk with Him. Not a “have to” but a “get to”.
This week I want you to understand that God made you and is the source of everything good in your life. And if that is true, then we should have no problem trusting God with out life.
Genesis 1:1–3 ESV
1 In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. 3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
John 1:1–5 ESV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Everything begins with God.

We miss something when we read through the creation story sometimes.

Everything begins with God — He was there.

“In the beginning, God…” God was there.
He has always existed.
Why it matters? God is not dependent on anything for His existence. Nothing can or will ever change of affect Him.
All of God was there. The Trinity has always existed. Quick lesson for those who don’t know what the Trinity is. We believe that there is one God. One Essence. Expressed in three unique persons simultaneously. God the Father, God the Son — Jesus, and God the Spirit — Holy Spirit.
All Three were present and existing before creation. They were all playing a part in creation.
God is creating the world through the Word, which John says is Jesus. And then you have the Spirit moving over the face of the waters. All Three were there. All Three are still here.
The first thing you need to know is that God has always existed. He had no beginning. He will have no end. He is not dependent on anything or anyone.

Everything comes from God.

John 1:3 “3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Everything that was created came from God.
All the universe, everything on Earth, plants, animals, mountains and oceans, All the things in this beautiful world that make you stop and take your breath away.
More than the fact that God made those things. He made those things with the authority of His Word. He spoke and everything was created out of nothingness.
He spoke and things that did not yet exist came into existence in obedience.
That’s the power of our God.

Our life comes from God.

John 1:4 “4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

We did not come about through random chance over the course of millions of years.
We were created and designed by God. Everything intricate and wonderful about the human body was shaped and formed by God.
You can’t look at the different overlays of the systems of our body and think that just happened by chance over the course of millions of years.
You can say in millions of years anything is possible. There’s too many things that depend on each other.

Genesis 2:7 “7 then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.”

God literally breathed life into us. HIS life was breathed into us. You are alive because God brought you to life.

The God Who gave you life is the God you can trust with your life.

If God gave you life then technically you belong to Him. Like it or not.
Granted we can talk about all the horror stories of villains who create things and abuse them, but we don’t serve a God like that.
We were created in an outpouring of God’s love. God did not need us, He wanted us. God created us to give us the opportunity to know the great love that He has. God created us to know the greatness of Who He is.
So He made us and He cares about us, so we can trust Him.
But let me go one step further.

John 1:29 “29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

The God Who gave His life is the God you can trust with your life.

God created everything. He gave everything life. He gave us life.
But we sinned against God. We turned away from the God Who made us. We turned against the God Who gave us life.
The penalty for that was death. To run from life is to naturally reject life.
But God didn’t want that for us. So instead of dooming us to our penalty. He came and died in our place suffering the penalty for sin.
And now by placing our faith and trust in Jesus, we are set free from sin and death.

Conclusion: Are you trusting God with your life?

Every decision should be His.
Every step we take should be guided by Him.
We are called to simply give our lives to Him.
That’s what it means to follow Jesus.
Surrender and give ourselves back to the One Who made us and knows what is best for us.
