God, We Need You To Work (Galatians 2:6-10)

Intro

The People (these who seemed to be somewhat)
Added nothing to him - Only Jesus could give Paul added benefits!
The Plan (vs.7)
The gospel of the circumcision and the gospel of the uncircumcision are not two different gospels. They are the same gospel.
Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”
Ephesians 2:14–16 “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:”
The Power (vs.8)
When God entrusts somebody with the gospel, or any other work, God gives that person power to do the work
Wrought Effectually - to produce, to be in action, to carry out, to exert oneself by doing mental or physical work for a purpose or necessity, to perform as expected.
Too many people are working, but are working at nothing.
They’re like a hamster in a wheel, they’re running, but they ain’t getting no where.
They may be working in the power of the flesh, but the flesh fails.
They may be working in the power of entertainment, but that gets boring eventually.
They may be working in the power of emotion, but emotions ebb and flow.
The only way a Christian can perform as expected is through God and through God and his means alone.

The Person That Wrought Effectually

Galatians 2:8 “(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)”
Ephesians 3:7 “Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.”
Ephesians 2:8–10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
Paul was made something by the working of God’s power!
When someone gets saved, they are saved to work. Not their own work, but good works according to God’s power!
Saul was a menace: Paul was made a minister.
Saul was a murderer: Paul was made a minister.
God put the power on the inside when you got saved! So the power is there, it just need to come out!
Philippians 2:12–13 “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
We should work out what God put in!
God puts in the desire (to will) and the doing!
Romans 12:1–2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Romans 8:11–14 “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
YOU CANNOT MORTIFY THE DEEDS OF THE FLESH THROUGH YOUR FLESH. YOU HAVE NO POWER. BUT IF YOU PRESENT YOURSELF TO GOD, YIELD TO THE HOLY SPIRIT EVERY SECOND OF YOUR LIFE, GOD WILL SHOW YOU HIS WILL AND GIVE YOU THE POWER TO PERFORM HIS WILL FOR YOUR LIFE!
Jehoshaphat against Moab and the Ammonites (2 Chronicles 20)
Whether you’re battling sin, Satan, self, or sorrow, the only way to overcome is to yield to God and his power, not yours.
Romans 8:37 “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
1 John 5:4–5 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?”
1 Corinthians 15:57–58 “But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.”

The Precepts That Wrought Effectually

1 Thessalonians 2:13 “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.”
James 1:21-25
Psalm 145:18 “The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, To all that call upon him in truth.”
1 John 5:14–15 “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.”
2 Kings 22, 2 Kings 23

The Prayers That Wrought Effectually

James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
Deuteronomy 9:18–20 “And I fell down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger. For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the Lord was wroth against you to destroy you. But the Lord hearkened unto me at that time also. And the Lord was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.”
Acts 12:5 “Peter therefore was kept in prison: but prayer was made without ceasing of the church unto God for him.”
Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:”
