INTRODUCTION: LOOKING to the FUTURE
INTRODUCTION: LOOKING to the FUTURE
Sometimes one of the most helpful ways to see if decisions are good...
… is to look to the end of the matter and not just the present.
What I feel like doing = Horrible Decision Making Paradigm.
Rotting on couch
Eating
Scrolling/Watching TV
Conclusion: End of lifestyle = unhealthy & unwanted.
Enjoyment = temporary
———————————————
2. Other side,, Truly Good = often unwanted
exercise
eating healthy
Conclusion: End of lifestyle = healthy.
Idea: “Appointment w/ Future Self”
************
Transition ➡ Focus: Similar idea applies spiritually — we’ll see today.
Look w/ me @ passage… V11-16

PASSAGE READING:
PASSAGE READING:
11 Woe to them! For they walked in the way of Cain and abandoned themselves for the sake of gain to Balaam’s error and perished in Korah’s rebellion.
12 These are hidden reefs at your love feasts, as they feast with you without fear, shepherds feeding themselves; waterless clouds, swept along by winds; fruitless trees in late autumn, twice dead, uprooted;
13 wild waves of the sea, casting up the foam of their own shame; wandering stars, for whom the gloom of utter darkness has been reserved forever.
14 It was also about these that Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of his holy ones,
15 to execute judgment on all and to convict all the ungodly of all their deeds of ungodliness that they have committed in such an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things that ungodly sinners have spoken against him.”
16 These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage.

JUDE’S APPEAL to 1 ENOCH

GOSPEL INVITATION: EMPTINESS of SIN
GOSPEL INVITATION: EMPTINESS of SIN
Truth: Sin makes big promises but never delivers.
It cannot satisfy.
24 By faith Moses, when he was grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter,
25 choosing rather to be mistreated with the people of God than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.
Sin enslaves—because you always need more.
Exhort: We weren’t made to be slaves of sin—but servants of God.
➡ Pursue sin & Come up Empty.…
➡ or… Pursue God & Find Meaning.
Augustine: You have formed us for yourself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in You.
Exhort: We were made for God!! Knowing Him & Making Him known!!
To know the Living God
& His Son Jesus Christ…

———————————————
GOSPEL: CHRIST DIED to SAVE SINNERS
GOSPEL: CHRIST DIED to SAVE SINNERS
Good Shepherd—Took Consequences of our Wandering
Paid price for our sins
Save us from our pursuit of destruction.
He came to rescue us from eternal hellfire—by Grace!!
➡ We couldn’t reach heaven—Heaven came down.
➡ We couldn’t be perfect—the perfect one died for us
➡ ➡ By trusting in Him—we could find grace.
Invitation: Talk to me after service…

RECAP INTRODUCTION:
Looking to the future,,, gives wisdom for present.
Self-indulgence—doesn’t satisfy— leads to eternal damnation

CONCLUSION:
CONCLUSION:
I’d rather serve Jesus than money.
I’d rather serve Jesus than sexual pleasures.
