Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might.
Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Stand firm therefore, having girded your loins with truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
in addition to all, taking up the shield of faith with which you will be able to extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
With all prayer and petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance and petition for all the saints,

Last week we realized that when we choose to harbor or rebelliously commit sin, we give the enemy an advantage. (Corinthians, un-forgiveness gave the devil an advantage)

Where does the enemy fight us?
Where does the battle start?
The battlefield of the enemy is the Mind.

Set your mind on things above!
Therefore if you have been raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.
Therefore I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.

The enemy wants to get you to compromise.

The devil wants us to live in the world of compromising our convictions.
Therefore consider the members of your earthly body as dead to immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which amounts to idolatry.
For it is because of these things that the wrath of God will come upon the sons of disobedience,
and in them you also once walked, when you were living in them.
But now you also, put them all aside: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and abusive speech from your mouth.
Do not lie to one another, since you laid aside the old self with its evil practices,
and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him—
a renewal in which there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave and freeman, but Christ is all, and in all.

Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father.

This is a call to be immovable. It is a call to defy the enemies efforts.

and do not give the devil an opportunity.
Defy by choosing life, godliness and the way of holiness in daily life.
Victory begins with a commitment to holiness and purity.
Resist Him
Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
How do you do this?
Notice the ability to resist first requires submission to God. It also requires a constant drawing close to God with the understanding that He is drawing close to you.
As mentioned before, though we do not want to over focus on the devil, Verbal confession against the enemy is often needed. Micheal the arch angel did it, Jesus had the 72 do it, the early Christians did it (word of testimony), James calls us to do it.
What does that look like.
Rebuke an evil thought (take the thought captive), rebuke a temptation to participate in sinful activity. Resist and rebuke any coercion of the devil to participate in sin (Corinthians, sin of unforgiveness).
Direct resistance but fully under submission to God!
Your level of submission to God in daily life is directly correlated to your ability to daily resist the devil.

Prayer is a conversational relationship with the Father.
In that conversational relationship, He gives us great privilege to depend on Him for the needs of our life and the strength to overcome the evil one.
When You said, “Seek My face,” my heart said to You, “Your face, O Lord, I shall seek.”

Make these basic principles part of your life and you will consistently win the daily battles against the enemy.
