Sermon
Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

We live under Christ’s authority V.20. Pentecost season’s message
Dear friends in christ:
Every generation look forward to follow the foot steps of their predecessors such as grandparents, parents, and someone who has gone before them. We wish and hope that we have a glimpse of what they have and or go beyond what they have gone.
I many cases I often hear people saying that you have one ounce of blood from your grand father, father, mother, or siblings. We journey in life and we may have an ounce of blood related to each other physically but relationship wise, we may not have anything connect.
Today we focus on the relationship that we have with Christ. We follow the theme, “Christ’s Authority is Present with us.” Before we dive into the message, ask yourself these questions: Do I have faith in Christ? AM I living to bring honor and glory to God? What I do today tell others that I have an ounce of Christ’s blood inside me? What am doing today tell others that I have the power and authority of Christ in me?
Jesus Christ presented his great love to his disciples saying that all authority on earth and in heaven is giving to him. Every tongue and every knee should bow to him alone.
Phil 2:
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.
Christ has authority over all things and rule all things. Christ’s word also rule and control all thing. The power of Jesus Christ will rule the whole world.
What you are doing today demonstrate Christ’s authority in your life? If you are a women, when giving a task, you accomplish it with the love of Christ and you make it to the best of your ability. When we see your heart and your action in words and actions - we see Christ’s power demonstrated in you.
when you are a young man and woman, when you handle any situation and life - you demonstrate your life with care and love and forgiveness because you have the power of Christ present in your life.
Reading scripture at home, church, live your life in private or in public demonstrate Christ’s authority in you. If you do not have any of fear and sensitive toward Christ and others, you may not have the authority of Christ in your and your walk with Christ.
2. Christ commanded the disciples to go and make disciples: Disciples are people who follow of Christ. In order to make disciples, they must be disciple of themselves first.
The disciples are people who is willing to seat beneath the feed of Jesus and listen to Jesus. The people are willing to obey and learn and change of heart and mind before they go and make disciple for Christ.
Christ’s power demonstrate in us today because we are faithful follower / disciple of Christ. Turn to someone next to you left and right and say “ You are Christ’s disciple first, than go make one.”
How do we make disciples in our church today?
We are his sheep and willing to listen to his voice
We are willing to listen to his discipline and faithfully carry it out.
We are faithful in prayer, reading of his word, worship, and life.
We are faithful in giving, loving, forgiving, and live a life of repentance .
3. Christ’s authority is present with us today - No matter what happen to you in good time or bad time - your speech and life reflect that Christ is with you. When we have plenty and life is going good and going great - we feel that Christ is with us. But when we face life roller coaster or any hurricane coming toward our lives, we speak and live like we have nothing to do with God. We feel like Christ is not with us at all. This is a bad example that demonstrate Christ’s present with us.
When Christ’s power demonstrate with us, he promise good or bad time, he will be there always. This is our walk with God at emergency room, party celebration, funeral, wedding or any place.
I often hear people felt and say that Christ is no longer with them, the truth is that Christ is always with us but we are unfaithful and we ran away from God.
Today, as we live our lives - remember that He rules all things above and below. Today Christ is in control and no matter what life bring to you, may you see his power and authority rule always.
I pray that you see Christ’s authority presence in your church, in your pastor’s weekly, daily life and message, your family’s life and actions. In the lives of the elders and young people. In the lives of the ladies in our midst and in our children.
May Christ’s authority live among us and may we cherish his Name above all names. Amen.
