A WINNING STRATEGY
A WINNING STRATEGY
Ephesians 4:11-
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: 16 From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.
AIM
To encourage believers to share the gospel with every lost soul in desperate need of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus.
INTRODUCTION
We are about to enter a week long competition. For the record, we are not in competition with other churches in our area who are having Vacation Bible School on the same week we are having ours. We should be thankful and pray for our area to be saturated with the gospel of Jesus this week. Our competition is with the devil for the lost souls who will be attending our First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School this week. If we are in a serious competition, we need to work together as a team. Jesus owns the team and has chosen me to be the coach. A coach always gives his team a pep talk before his players enter into competition with an opponent. His job is to encourage his team, give them the final instructions and get them fired up before the first play in the game. The Bible teaches part of my job as a pastor is “perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry.” Hopefully, I can be a good coach for our team.
Tomorrow will be the first day of our 2017 Vacation Bible School. Many of you could do this in your sleep because you have done this so many times over the years. You have been successful and have seen many lives changed by working together as a team. You understand the success of any group of people is working together as a team toward a common goal. Our goal is the same as God’s goal to reach, teach, win and develop preschoolers, children and youth, with an extended goal of reaching their families. To do this, we need a winning strategy.
A WINNING STRATEGY IS ALWAYS CENTERED ON GOD
God the Father gave Jesus, His only begotten Son, to save the world.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
God the Holy Spirit glorifies, Jesus, the the Savior, and guides the lost to understand the gospel.
7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. 8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 Of sin, because they believe not on me; 10 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; 11 Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. 12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. 13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. 14 He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.
John 16:7-
He convicts the lost of sin and unrighteousness and leads them to a definite decision to accept or reject Jesus.
He convicts the lost of sin and unrighteousness and leads them to a definite decision to accept of reject Jesus.
Everything we do must be centered on God if we want to succeed in accomplishing His will. Anything and everything we do which is not centered on God, regardless of how hard one works, is destined for failure. It doesn’t matter if we are serving a meal, helping others learn new lyrics to a song or teaching a Bible story, it must be centered on God. A winning strategy is always centered on God.
A WINNING STRATEGY IS ALWAYS COMMITTED TO THE GOSPEL
We have wisdom when we learn we do not have the power to save one lost soul. The Lord alone can save lost souls and He uses the message of the gospel to lead them to Jesus. The gospel is God’s power unto salvation.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
We must understand our limitations. We can’t make people repent or make them feel guilty enough to be saved. We are witnesses of the gospel of Jesus.
We are witnesses of the gospel.
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
Luke 24:45-
The greatest thing each of us can do is share the gospel with those who are lost. We are responsible for sharing the gospel, not how those to whom we witness respond to the gospel. A winning strategy is always committed to the gospel.
A WINNING STRATEGY IS ALWAYS CARRIED OUT WITH GRACE
There are no perfect people in this world. Every person is a sinner in desperate need of a Savior.
11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
Romans 3:11
This is the reason we need to share the gospel and extend God’s invitation with grace.
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Ephesians 2:
God’s grace is greater than our sins.
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.
Every sinner is saved by the grace of God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:20
11 But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they.
Each of us is saved through the gracious atoning work of Jesus on the cross.
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
Romans 3:2
A winning strategy is always carried out with grace.
CONCLUSION
CONCLUSION
We need to be excited about what God is going to do through each of us throughout the week as we work with preschoolers, children and youth. Everything we do during the week should be centered on God. We should be committed to the gospel. Our work should be carried out with grace. We have a winning strategy because we serve a powerful God who his given us His instruction manual.
