Worshiping in the Glory
2 Samuel 6:1-15
How do we worship & celebrate in the very presence of God?
The story of the Ark brought back to Jerusalem is a prophetic picture of lessons learned and victories proclaimed.
What was the ark?
2 Sam 6:2
And David arose and went with all the people who were with him from Baale Judah to bring up from there the ark of God, whose name is called by the Name, the Lord of Hosts, who dwells between the *cherubim.
By the Name: The ark represented the very presence of God. “Name” here therefore represents everything God reveals Himself to be. The ark was the center of the nation’s worship and the most sacred of its possessions.
What did the Ark contain?
(The Ten Commandments - God's Moral law would last forever. Aaron's rod - God's chosen One. A pot of manna - life sustaining food.)
It is so important that we have a heart of worship which is an expression of full surrender and a stand of reverence (honor and respect) in the glory.
If we live out this heart of worship nature, the house and everyone in it will be blessed by the Lord God Himself
(2 Sam 6:11 The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months. And the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.)
If we don't then even our good intentions will fall to the ground with no real fruit
(2 Sam 6:5-10 Then David and all the house of Israel played music before the Lord on all kinds of instruments of fir wood, on harps, on stringed instruments, on tambourines, on sistrums, and on cymbals.
6 And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled.
7 Then the anger of the Lord was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God.
8 And David became angry because of the Lord’s outbreak against Uzzah; and he called the name of the place Perez Uzzah to this day.
9 David was afraid of the Lord that day; and he said, “How can the ark of the Lord come to me?”
10 So David would not move the ark of the Lord with him into the City of David; but David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.)
With a heart of worship, we cultivate a dynamic devotion where we love the Lord with all our heart, soul and strength
We continue to worship and celebrate in His glory until we have break through!
(2 Sam 6:12-15)
Now it was told King David, saying, “The Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the City of David with gladness.
13 And so it was, when those bearing the ark of the Lord had gone six paces, that he sacrificed oxen and fatted sheep.
14 Then David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was wearing a linen *ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with *shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.
And when we have breakthrough worship we get supernatural blessings and promotions
(2 Sam 6:18-19)
And when David had finished offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts.
19 Then he distributed among all the people, among the whole multitude of Israel, both the women and the men, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece of meat, and a cake of raisins. So all the people departed, everyone to his house.
2 Sam 7:12-16)
When your days are fulfilled and you rest with your fathers, I will set up your seed after you, who will come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.
13 “He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
14 “I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men.
15 “But My *mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.
16 “And your house and your kingdom shall be established forever before you. Your throne shall be established forever.” ’ ”
How can we have a great awakening in the world if the church is asleep? And how can we show the world what they were created to be if we are not living out our calling as worshipers of God?
(John 4:23-24)
“But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship* the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.
24 “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”
A revival of worshipers can only spread to the world from a starting point, the children of God
