Intro - Micaiah means who is like God. He was unknown prophet but in the same league as Elijah or Elisha.
One Man Is All That’s Needed
(KJV 1900)
8 And the king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat, There is yet one man, Micaiah the son of Imlah, by whom we may inquire of the Lord: but I hate him; for he doth not prophesy good concerning me, but evil. And Jehoshaphat said, Let not the king say so.
Thank God for the one man but what a tragic hour that there was only one man. God has never needed a majority. In Truth, one man is a majority if he is standing on God’s side.
Courageous Conviction
(KJV 1900)
13 And the messenger that was gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good. 14 And Micaiah said, As the Lord liveth, what the Lord saith unto me, that will I speak. 15 So he came to the king. And the king said unto him, Micaiah, shall we go against Ramoth-gilead to battle, or shall we forbear? And he answered him, Go, and prosper: for the Lord shall deliver it into the hand of the king. 16 And the king said unto him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the Lord? 17 And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the Lord said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
Micaiah courageously prophesied the King would die and his people be scatterred.
What distinguishes people who successfully traversed through personal or professional challenges and problems? There are many but all have this one. Courage.
Courage - audacity, adventurousness, bold, brave, daredevil, guts, grit, nerve, spunk, and daring.
Illustration - Man who was meant to succeed but never tried. I don’t know all the ways to succeed, but I do know one sure way to fail. That’s to never try.
It is doing what is necessary in spite of how we feel.
It might beawkward, unnatural, or downright harmful to us. Jesus did just that. Didn’t David say that a man would enter his holy hill when he swore to his own hurt?
One More Try. - It’s the straw that breaks the camels back.
Hacksaw Ridge - Lord give me the strength to rescue one more man.
Go another round. Give it another try. It mat be the straw that broke the camels back. It could be your tipping point. Your moment of truth. Tipping point.
(KJV 1900)
34 And a certain man drew a bow at a venture, and smote the king of Israel between the joints of the harness: wherefore he said unto the driver of his chariot, Turn thine hand, and carry me out of the host; for I am wounded.
Stopped short.
(KJV 1900)
16 And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king’s hands. 17 And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the Lord’s deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them. 18 And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed. 19 And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.
