Paul reminds the Philippian church that unity and joy are preserved through humility. While pride and selfish ambition create division, believers are called to follow the example of Christ by thinking of others, serving others, and sacrificing for others. Though fully God, Jesus humbled Himself by becoming a servant and obediently dying on the cross. Because of His humility, God highly exalted Him, and one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
